It’s a cosy spot on Portsmouth Road that hosts music and special events every night of the week, but alongside all of that there’s an ever present food menu offering British pub classics, gourmet burgers, Italian-style pizzas and an exclusive Pieminister menu. Naturally, The Cannon also has a well-stocked bar, making it the perfect location for any casual occasion. It’s in the centre of town and thus easily accessed from just about anywhere in Guildford. It’s also very popular, so do reserve a table in advance.

So, as we said, whatever night of the week you reserve a table at The Cannon, you can be assured of great food or great music. Monday is pie night where you buy one and get the second half-price, Tuesday means you buy one pizza and get one free, Wednesday is gourmet burgers, Thursday is open mic night, on Fridays there are live acoustic bands, Saturday sees the Guildford Soul & Funk Club doing their thing, then Sunday, of course, means roast dinners. Given all of that, it’s no surprise that this Portsmouth Road pub is so damn popular.
Among all the action, however, The Cannon’s food menu is consistent and ensures jacket spuds, sandwiches, burgers and plenty of British pub classics are always available. The bangers and mash comes equipped with locally-sourced sausages and onion gravy, the beef lasagne is thick and creamy and the homemade chicken curry warms the heart.
