The Church Inn has been an established eatery in the Jewellery Quarter for over 100 years, but it wasn’t until The Soul Food Project and Everards Brewery arrived that the space was reinvented into the lively Southern food-and-drink joint it is today. While the pub heritage has remained, the energy has changed to put this Great Hampton Street restaurant on the map amongst Birmingham’s dining out scene as the place to visit for American cuisine. The atmosphere of The Church Inn is homely and the space inviting, with its New Orleans-style front bar, classy dining area, sun-drenched roof terrace and large events space for live music or comedy acts.
When it comes to the food and drink, it’s evident that The Soul Food Project, founded by Carl Finn, know what they’re doing. Influenced by Cajun flavours that hail from the New Orleans French Quarter, The Church Inn’s menu is a mouthwatering and finger-licking creation showcasing the best of American cuisine. Order biscuits with bacon gravy, buttermilk fried chicken burgers, Cajun chicken and chorizo jambalaya or lobster and sausage gumbo.
