If you want a dinner that’s leagues apart from a bog-standard meal in any old curry house, head to The Culinaire Eastbourne located right along Royal Parade. This Eastbourne centre restaurant takes all the best components of Indian cuisine and flips them on their head for an exciting, gastronomic experience. Expect big flavours and aromas, colourful plates and presentation so perfect you almost won’t want to eat your meal! For something a little bit different try their chef’s special, bhuna kabootar which consists of smoked breast of pigeon with cloves, garlic, pigeon pate and spiced tomato chutney, cooked in a traditional Delhi-style tandoori marinade and served with caramelised cashew nuts. There was only one Waiter and although pleasant, he was slow. He forgot our drinks and gave us the wrong food, and a few items from the drinks list and menus were unavailable. All 4 of us enjoyed our Starters, and the complimentary soup was really delicious. However, none of the main courses were finished as each of us found them too ‘fragrant’ for us and barely spicy even though we’d asked for medium heat spice. The rice and bread was lovely though, but that’s not the main event really 😕 I’ve eaten here once before, the Tasting Menu, which was SUPERB but at nearly 4 hours was too slow 🐞
Staff are very friendly and helpful and the menu has a great range and choice of different things and we were not disappointed with the quality as it was excellent.
Lovely food and great service. Really nice vegetarian starters and delicious little potato balls and tomato and coriander soup. Good value for money. Well done to the Culinaire.
