Croydon and the Caribbean can seem one million miles away from each other in more ways than one, but at The Dutchie Restaurant you can experience a little piece of it for yourself. The vibrant decor will have you feeling you’re relaxing in a beach hut, and even more so when you sink back one of the exotic cocktails on offer paired with the Jamaican cuisine. We recommend sharing the negril sampler platter (jerk wings, sweet chili wings, spicy shrimp, bammy, festiballs, Jamaican style slaw & chilli ketchup) before chowing down on some jerk lobster, curry goat or the Dutchie burger with a fried chicken fillet, sweet chilli sauce, lettuce and tomato. For a tropical escape in Croydon’s town centre, book a table at The Dutchie Restaurant, located inside The Arcade on the High Street.
Very tasty food and nice staff. Will be going back to try other dishes. Don't be expecting a fancy restaurant, but basic is fine if the food is good.
Service was good food was great staff was very happy and cheerful the Cocoktails was good and the place was clean whi h is very important
Great place to eat; fast service and I would highly recommend visiting. Easy to order seat online. Great taste and at a reasonable price !
Delicious authentic Jamaican food. They make proper rum cocktails. I will definitely be back. They should open up more branches. Great service too even though young waiter seemed a bit lost. overall a good evening out.
Food was amazing, so tasty and loads of it! I forgot both appetisers and mains come out together at the same time... so it took us a long time to enjoy the food! I wasn't complaining, and whatever I couldn't finish we got to take home in a doggy bag! I have the chilli fish for starters, and oxtail with rice n peas for main as well as a side of Festiballs and a guiness punch... could not fault any of the food, it was cooked to perfection! My friends had the calamari, chicken burger and fries and the other had the boneless jerk chicken with rice n peas, again they loved what they got and we all shared has there was more that enough to go round! The only comment my friend made, was that she would have preferred more chilli sauce in her burger... but that's each to their own and not hard to fix! The staff were lovely and the vibe was very sociable and comfortable...you have to force yourself to leave because your so relaxed! I liked the decor which gave it character! I also thought it was well priced for the amount of food you get, very generous! I cant wait to go back! Thank you guys! I had a great Birthday Meal! :)
Absolutely delicious. I had the oxtail with rice and peas. I also had mac n cheese and slaw on the side. The rice and peas was full of flavour (like mine) and the oxtail was so sweet If my teeth were strong enough I would have nyam the bone too lol. The slaw was proper slaw reminds me of how they do it in Jamaica not full of mayo or salad cream it was lovely. Overall we had an amazing night and will definitely come back. The staff were amazing and the music was fantastic. The only downfall is the table was two small for the amount of people in our party so I was a little uncomfortable. Its ashame the venue wasn't bigger. Hands down the BEST Caribbean restaurant I have ever been too.
I took my daughter to Dutchie restaurant for a pre birthday lunch yesterday. The service - Impeccable, Thank you Garfield. The food was to die for (I'm in love with the Chef whoever he is) The two for one Cocktails were the best I've tasted outside of the Caribbean (did not have to ask for a top up of rum - lol), I actually could not manage the second one and that is not like me at all - lol. My daughter had an amazing time and we will definitely be coming back and bringing the rest of the family. Well done Dutchie and keep up the good work!!
The food was good but the service is poor. The waiters/waitresses at no point throughout your meal come to see if you're ok, whether you're enjoying your meal or whether additional drinks are required. It would be nice if at the beginning of the meal they introduced themselves- gave their name etc and said they will be looking after us. However this didn't happen and we found that the only way to get a waiter's attention is to call out to them whilst they are passing and yet disappointingly they include a service charge in the bill, which is not deserved! We initially had a waiter who got our drinks order wrong- we asked for Strawberry daquiris and received Strawberry Mojitos, it then took a further 15min for the correct drinks to be brought to us. We shared a starter and the waiter offered to bring us an additional plate, which he never brought! We then had to ask another waitress for the plate, it appeared that waitress was then assigned to our table. We had our meal, then had to wait 20min after finishing our meal to get a waitresses attention for the bill. All in all I won't be rushing back.
The greeting and the service from the team of waiters and waitresses was excellent! We enjoyed the food enormously; we ordered lobster , which tasted wonderful and when we needed help with getting the best out of our order the staff put on their gloves, pulled up their sleeves and gave us the help we needed and this was done with lots of laughter! One of the owners spent some time talking with us at our table and my friend whose birthday it was ,was brought a free birthday rum punch! Lovely ambience, we had a great time! Loved it!
A little hidden gem tucked away in the centre of Croydon. The food is really tasty with a great selection on the menu. It is authentic Carribean food so is well seasoned and spicy! The cocktails are soooo good! And when it's 2 for 1, it's hard not try a few! The staff were really welcoming, friendly and attentive. The only point I would make is the seats aren't that comfy but hey, we were only there for a few hours for dinner and it was worth it!
