We visited the restaurant in the evening on a week-end but the atmosphere in the restaurant was dull - only three tables were initially occupied and increased to five during our stay. The standard of the meal was reasonable but we had expected a more impressive presentation.

Lovely atmosphere and welcoming staff. The Oxtail Canelloni and Beef Cheeks were delicious and melt in your mouth. Great set menu value. I look forward to returning.

Food was impeccable, service was relaxed but attentive. Couldn't fault it and will be going back soon. Food was as close to Michelin without the over inflated prices.

Amazing meal. We had scallops and soup, beef cheeks and lamb and creme brulee and passion fruit desserts. All delicious. Very friendly and welcomimg owner and lovely relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely return.

The Epicurean is a hidden gem that boasts fabulous food and fantastic service. It provides a wonderful experience for great value and far better than some of restaurant chains. If you are looking for a personalised and intimate dining experience with Michelin standard food for a fraction of the price then you must give this great place a go.

Excellent Good set menu, a la carte available, and at a reasonable price. Attentive service. Close to university and plenty of parking. Try it and you will not be disappointed.

Very welcoming and appropriately attentive. Food was excellent although the menu was different from what we were expecting from the website. Wine list was good although the one we wanted was out of stock. We will go back.

Can't fault the staff very attentive and friendly. Food was just OK and seems quite overpriced. Menu sounds good but didn't quite live up to its promise.

Good, attentive service - but so it should be with only 2 tables in use at lunch time. Could be ideal for a very quiet meal.

Although the menu is small, that is to the benefit of customers as great attention is paid to every dish. The roast octopus is both refreshingly unusual and extraordinarily tasty, and the duo of creme brulee is sublime. The owner is discrete yet charmingly affable and the whole experience was thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Superb. Top quality food and incredibly comfortable atmosphere without the price tag or restaurants of a similar quality. This restaurant is a real hidden gem within Birmingham.

We had a delicious meal beautifully served in a very comfortable and pleasing environment. The desserts were particularly light and sharp. We will go back!

A pleasant enough place, little altered from ‘Waters on the Square’. Polite front-of-house. Disappointed that the à la carte menu was not available, only the Christmas Menu with limited choices, and not all those available either. Food was quite ordinary and didn’t seem to have the ingredients specified on the menu. Heavily over-salted, too. The bread and butter was nice.

Small restaurant in pleasant suburban shopping precinct. Unfussy decor, bare-topped tables but very comfortable seating. Food of high quality, in good-sized portions, served elegantly but without pretentiousness. Opened recently by owner with experience in Michelin-starred restaurants. Will return to try the a la carte dishes, not available at lunch on our visit.

A really enjoyable evening... The restaurant is cosy and nicely finished with friendly service. All of the food was great and the bottle of Verdejo was particularly tasty with the Mediterranean flavours in our dishes. Looking forward to the next visit!

We were warmly greeted by Alfonso on arrival & offered a choice of table. The menu provided a different choice to other restaurants we have visited. We decided to try the salmon, oxtail cannelloni for starters, followed by cod, beef cheeks for mains - what a good choice, excellent. We look forward to trying other dishes from the menu in the near future.

Good food in relaxed atmosphere. Owner knowledgeable and very helpful. It may not be an adventurous menu but there is enough variety for most tastes. Perfectly adequate wine list.
