The Firepit Bar & Grill

Firepits are somewhat thin on the ground in Merseyside – unless the Antony Gormley statues down on the beach in Crosby have been digging into the sands overnight – but up in Southport, they have one, and they’re certainly putting it to work. The Firepit on West Street, just around the corner from Southport train station, is a steakhouse with a superb selection of meats served on a sizzling slab of lava rock. The beef options run the gamut from fillet, sirloin and ribeye to 22oz sharing size Chateaubriand, as well as lump rump and tuna, all of which can be accompanied by chips, mash, jacket or new potatoes, as well as a huge range of sauces. There are burgers, too, and ribs, meatballs and piri-piri chicken, and fish-lovers are well catered for, as are vegetarians. Take a trip to The Firepit on West Street in the centre of Southport: just remember to gather a big group, book a table and bring your biggest appetite – you’re going to need it!
