Good quality simple food, tender tasty chicken in sauce that wasn't overwhelming and a generous portion of mussels. Friendly helpful staff. Very pleasant outside on a summer's evening. Informal cafe atmosphere inside.
Lovely evening, great food, good value. Weather was glorious too - so lovely to sit out on the front terrace. So continental! :P We had 3 courses plus wine, 2 of us starting with the ~£10 prix fixe menu, and myself deciding that I was having a good day and ready to have all my favourites! Came to around £80 for the 3 of us - not too bad.
Very pleasant lunch with charming service. I shall be very sorry to see The French Cafe go and do hope a similar relaxed bistro will take its place.
A quaint cafe, that is very popular with the locals. Everytime we have visited the ambience has been delightful. The French Cafe provides really tasty food at a reasonable price and great customer service.
We have been to the French Café several times. Good food and excellent value as always. Consistently let down, as on previous occasions, by indifferent service.
Excellent food, fresh and extensive menu, fast and frienly service and overall ambience. had lovely table outside with unbrella. Nice setting and great for people watching.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere with very good food and service. Only thing was it was a Saturday night and there were 2 things not available on the menu.
Lovely French-style bar and restaurant. Steak frites, glass of red, can't go wrong! Lovely French-style bar and restaurant. Steak frites, glass of red, can't go wrong!
Good solid French food without being too fancy. Really good service, fast and attentive without being intrusive. Reasonable wine list too. Will definitely go again.
For a relatively impromptu wedding celebration, the French Café proved to be a most pleasant venue where we celebrated our marriage with 5 guests. The bakery next door supplied the beautiful small wedding cake with only a day's notice and the service in the restaurant was very good. The only reservation we might have is that the corkage fee was rather high: £10 per bottle for 3 bottles came to £30 - perhaps there could be a sliding scale, e.g. first bottle - £10, 2nd bottle - £7, 3rd bottle - £4 and 4th bottle - £1, making it £22 for 4 bottles rather than £40. Otherwise, the French Café has our maximum approval !
Food delicious, service pleasant if a little slow. Only thing that let the restaurant down was the state of the ladies lavatory which was not pleasant.
We had a lovely time here on Mother's Day. The food was delicious (and well priced!), service quick, and staff very friendly. Would definitely come back again!
Bit cramped, chairs uncomfortable. Very noisy. Food ok but not great. The menu was understandably restricted as it was Mother's Day but it was v limited. Service polite but slow
Good food and fine wine, with a lovely coffee to round it off. The service was professional and friendly. We were pleased to be able to book a table on Saturday night.
Service was excellent and the food was perfect. A really pleasant evening, definitely will be having more times there. It looks like a nice place to dine in the coming summer.
Great Restaurant, delicious food, very reasonable price and great atmosphere. It really deserves to succeed. I will definitely return and will recommend it to all my friends. This is a great discovery, my best meal for ages.
Lovely local restaurant. Good simple menu, good food and excellent service. Also very good value and some decent wines you can buy by the glass.
Just missed the Sunday breakfast but had the set lunchtime deal. Very nice.
Simple, delicious, no nonsense French food with good service. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and, as it's reasonably priced, somewhere we will go to regularly
Great food, good service and a nice atmosphere. 1st time attending but will definitely come again soon. Was excellent value for money too, well worth a visit.
As ever delicious mussels, lamb rack, steak, salmon starter and quality wine with warm ambiance and solicitous service without over intrusion! What more form a great local?
Lovely meal, lovely surrounding and lovely staff. Good variety of menu and everyone happy with their choices. Recommend you try the Unoaked Chardonnay! Clean, fresh and perfect accompaniment to most food.
Lovely food and a great atmosphere! Also reasonably priced. Can't complain about the food portion sizes, though it was very rich and we couldn't finish our mains!
Great little restaurant tucked away off the main road between Balham and Tooting Bec. Very friendly staff and efficient service without being rushed. A good selection of both food and wine and reasonably priced too. Have been before and will definitely be a regular
I can not fault it the food is incredible the atmosphere is lovely and cozy and the prices are reasonable. I recommend anyone to go.
Good food. Great environment and competitive on price. Service staff could have been a little more attentive. I've been here several times and each time had a good time. Great restaurant and plan to go again.
Fantastic French food in an authentic environment. Great, personal service and good wine list. Definitely recommended for formal or informal dining in the Tooting/Balham area.
We had a fabulous brunch here. Have been many time before and will continue to go back. Great food. Good service. Perfect local place for food.
The French Cafe is always friendly and this was no exception. The food is as good as ever and so we had our usual which was the bavette, beautifully rare and full of flavour. We had a great evening. Thanks
Really good food and service. Table at back of restaurant which was comfortable and spacious. The steak and venison were particularly good and wine prices reasonable.
Restaurant ran out of the mussels dish that I wanted; steak baguette was good instead; service was pleasant; prices were ok; ambience was relaxing and good for families or couples
An Interesting menu and lovely food - Always most enjoyable and I have never been disappointed - I will continue to visit whenever I want a dependably delicious meal. I particularly like lunching Michael Carr
Fabulous little restaurant. Great food and lovely service. What more could you want. I don't go here often enough, I should make an effort to get there more.
