The food was great and the service was excellent. We have wanted to try this restaurant for a while and so glad we finally did. Will definitely be returning!

A fairly limited menu with a lot of cheese so probably not good for the lactose intolerant but the staff were charming. I would happily go again.

The French House is a lovely little place with great service, amazing raclette and delicious fondue! Will definitely go back again for more cheese-based treats!

Very friendly staff. Music did not fully match the clientele (could be more relaxed for a better relaxed atmoshpere) and was on the loud side. Cheese and charcuterie platter was massively over-sized but good. Side salad was a bit of a let-down. Great Carignane.

We had a lovely lunch at the French House on Lordship Lane. The duck confit was superb and the chocolate fondant delicious. It is a little slow which would be my only negative but we were not in a rush so that was fine. Lovely staff made my birthday feel special. I would definitely go back.

Very nice atmosphere and kind staff! As a French couple, we really enjoyed having a lunch reminding us some typical tastes of France. Nice wine liste as well.

Incredible food, atmosphere and service. Also great selection of French cocktails, ideal for a pre dinner drink. What a place! Will definitely be coming back

Very nice little tartiflette, OK duck mousse, Excellent Duck confit, OK cassoulet Very sweet cocktail, nice red wine. Charming service. Why oh why do they have a silent video of 60s French pop singers but actually play boring modern French pop? Why not turn up the volume of those old rockers?

Lovely friendly service, even at the end of a very busy day. Everyone was very kind to my disabled Mum, and she and the rest of the family had a lovely time. Ice food, friendly relaxed atmosphere.

Lovely food and atmosphere but I didn't really appreciate two people being sat on our bench table half way through the meal, with me and my mum on Mother's Day, particularly as there were other smaller tables they could have been seated at. The bench is too small for different parties to be sat together.

Great service, food a bit disappointing. Escargot needed seasoning and French onion soup was better when I went the first time, somehow something missing. My coq au vin wasn't hot although the taste was good, the sauce had depth but it was served warm which spoiled it for me. Deserts were nice - apple tart was light and fluffy, chocolate fondant hot and gooey but the vanilla ice cream served alongside was grainy with ice particles and tasted like a cheap supermarket brand. The sausages and mash was an excellent dish - meaty sausages full of flavour and the mash loaded with cheese. The service was fantastic, ice relaxed atmosphere but it was a bit too dark to see the food.

Delicious food, great atmosphere and really, really good service. We had the raclette, which was excellent value and was a fun meal to share. The place is quaint but also has an amazing French vibe. Would recommend and revisit

The staff seemed overwhelmed by our request for raclette. They did their best to set this up at the table, but it took two hours.

Great place - charming atmosphere, lively but not noisy; pleasant and friendly but not in-your-face friendly staff; Alsacienne food cooked to a good standard with a well chosen wine list (good Riesling esp). I liked it a lot!

Enjoyable, good quality food although a few more items on the menu would be good. Good wine list with good selection of wine by the glass.

When we got there at 7.30pm they had run out of mains - not great for a Saturday night! We had to make do with a cheese platter. Despite this, service was good.

The food was great and it was something different to all the pub grub on Lordship Lane but the service left a lot to be desired. It took 1 hour 40 minutes for the food to arrive, and the waiter had lost our order. It was only when challenged on this were we offered complimentary bread. To their credit, they knocked 2 drinks off the price and gave 6 pastries to take home. I hope that this was an off night and not representative of The French House, as the food itself was great, as was the wine!

Really slow service - waited 25 mins for our drinks and order to be taken. Also the baeckeoffe was a lot drier than last time. When I had it previously, it was in a sauce almost and it wasn't this time - so wasn't as good. But the rest of the food was amazing and I'll still be returning!

The food was amazing as per usual, the fondue was the best I've ever had. And I can't say a bad word against the staff; the lady recognised me from the last time I was in and she was so welcoming and lovely.

A few dishes were no longer on the menu, but we were only told after being there for a while and choosing them! Service good, food good, but very slow, we arrived at 1.20 and didn't eat anything until 2.30 earliest. But lovely atmosphere and good fun.

Had a lovely evening and introduced our 8 year old to cheese fondu. What a hit! Staff very lovely, food great and wine was good. My only comment, perhaps add some more choice of greens to the menu. Will be going back! Nat

Small but perfectly formed French restaurant. Great ambiance, food delicious, especially the French onion soup and the duck confit. The l'escagot would have benefited from more garlic!! Staff absolutely charming. Great evening.

Not really what we expected. We were hoping for a 60/70s style French bistro experience with an appropriate menu.Music was loud and we were the only customers. The solitary girl who was waiting and making drinks was lovely. The menu was limited. The marrow on toast was horrid and had a lump of raw bloodied fat in it. The fondue was very nice. Overall it was overpriced and not very nice. Saving graces were the lovely waitress and the fondue.
