About The Funky Indian

The Funky Indian in Sunderland is a new take on the traditional Indian restaurant. Playing on that feeling of fun and excitement a group experiences when sharing a feast of epic proportions, The Funky Indian has come up with a super creative Indian tapas menu. Although, fret not, if you balk at the thought of sharing food, because there is a great selection of larger mains on offer as well. Every item on the menu is bursting with all the flavours and textures that you want from a fantastic Indian meal, and the contemporary twist will keep you coming back time and time again. The Funky India can be found on Borough Road right in the city centre of Sunderland, but a mere ten minute walk from the university campus.

Food was delicious, service was very good. Had the tapas and couldn’t eat the amount that was brought out. Restaurant was very quiet. Menu was explained to us as it was our first visit.

We went for restaurant week and had 3 courses for £10 which was excellent value. The food was fabulous with nice sized portions. Would definitely recommend.
