Excellent food, very good friendly service. Every time I have been. Highly recommended. Please note the portions can be quite large, starters and main would be a struggle for some. But worth the extra few pounds :-)

A really good find and way off the normal tourist trail. That is of course if you are not staying at the local camping/caravan park on the door step. Staff are exceptional helpful and friendly and the chalk board menu offers a good assortment to suit all tastes. The bias though is toward fish and steak. Helpings are plentiful and the prices are reasonable. Probably best to book so not to be disappointed. Parking no problem. Check their website for opening times and payment arrangements. We shall return.

Fabulous as always, lovely warm welcome on arrival - the front of house lady even remembered us after a year since our last visit - impressive! Food was gorgeous and generous portions - remains one of our favourite places.

Really nice food! Good ambiance and great staff who could not do more to help. Love the menu, all fish and more fish. Would certainly go again.

Food was generally good but incredibly expensive for what you get. Service was very attentive. My pasta was over cooked and had so much Parmesan on it it was over bearing.

Finding the place initially proved interesting, luckily when we rang to check they explained you followed the road towards the recycling tip but turned left before you reached it. Set in a nice location the restaurant and outside area was lovely. The service is great and the good was presented well and was of a high standard. One bit of advice, bring cash as no cards accepted.

Freshly cooked food efficiently served at reasonable prices including the wine list. Pleasant decor in lakeside setting however the entrance is off putting being close to a council recycling centre.

Very good food. Service polite and friendly but not very attentive. Gave up the idea of having a desert after being left sat for 15 minutes with the desert menu of 5 items.

A very enjoyable meal, very generous portions of starters meant we had no room for dessert! Well cooked and presented and excellent service. Highly recommended

Four of us dined at The Galleon. The starters and mains were of great quality and taste. Our friends had never been before and said they would definitely go again. I will be choosing to go there for my birthday meal. My partner had shell on prawns as a starter and I had shell on prawns with my salad and no finger bowl or dish for the shells. A great choice of desserts but we could only manage coffee.

Great welcome and service. After previous visits we were expecting excellent food as well, the starters were great but the steaks were mixed up and one was very chewy. The lemon meringue pie was not great, pastry and meringue very soggy.

A well balanced menu with plenty of choice. The food is basic, fresh and well cooked and presented with friendly staff. We had a most enjoyable meal with a very reasonable pricetag. Plenty of parking with no steps to the restaurant. Inside is pleasantly decorated in a nautical timber style. The only possible downside is the location, but hey, you can't have everything.

Food good but I had one little problem I have celiacs and I was served chips which I did say I couldn't have contamination is a problem so I think they need to check up on this as once chips on plate the whole meal needs replacing not just the chips

The Galleon is one of the few restaurants to serve real homecooked food in quirky surroundings. Large portions a bonus!! Friendly, helpful staff. Highly recommend!!

Amazing food in a cosy environment. Sunday roast for 13 pounds including dessert is a great deal. Service is friendly but I bit slow and unorganised

Was looking forward to steak and ale pie and moules on web menu. As they were not on current menu chose medium rare steak and lemon sole. Lovely steak but under cooked near fat. Sole under cooked as bones came away with the flesh. Nice venue. Other drink choices around the walls. Lovely desserts. Mixed review.

A great little find! This restaurant is set in rather quirky but beautiful surroundings. It is warm and cosy inside, creating a good atmosphere. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the food is fantastic, although portions can be rather on the large side. Best steak in a long while!

the meal was fine and servings very generous. in fact we should have foregone the starter we shared as the main courses were too much for us! The jerk chicken I had was presented with salad, coleslaw and double fried chips which kept their heat throughout the meal. My sister's chicken and bacon caesar salad had a very generous helping of chicken, so much so that she had to leave some, as I did with the chips and coleslaw I had. Now they have a full licence we did not have to take our own drinks so did not feel we had to have the same. An enjoyable evening and we have now booked for Sunday lunch too. It is good to see that the galleon bistro is thriving now!!

It was our first visit &, as the Galleon was totally unknown to us, we were a little apprehensive of dining there with our friends. We need not have worried. We were well looked after, our meals were superb & the atmosphere was great. Our friends were very impressed and we shall all be returning. One tiny downside was that cards are not accepted but fortunately we had sufficient cash between us. We shall know for our next visit & be prepared. Thank you to 'The Galleon' for a really good dining experience.

The restaurant was very busy on Easter Sunday, but the three waitresses worked the tables extremely well. We had the breads with our drinks, followed by a delicious roast beef main course. The meat was most tasty, the seasoning and vegetables were excellent in a very generous serving - quality and quantity. For an extra 50 pence, we had a dessert too...an equally splendid affair, cheesecake with added vanilla ice cream.....not too sweet, just as we like it. This was our second visit and we shall certainly book again.

What a very pleasant experience. We were told about this exciting small hidden away place on Hayling Island and decided to visit as we wanted a good trusted place to take some friends. The welcome was second to none. Run by Jessie with her partner who is the Chef. They have been running it for about a year now and our advice would be to book early. It is only small but the food is good.
