Service was very wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious!
Very nice staff and food good However didn’t like where we were seated
Beautiful setting. Service very good. Food very nice but the carrots could have been cooked a little more.
Beautiful location, excellent service. Three course set lunch menu was wonderful. Piano in the background was a lovely touch and views to France provided lovely ambiance.
An excellent meal at Folkestone's Grand Hotel Restaurant, overlooking the Leas and sea. OK, it was dark, so the view was missing but we've eaten there at lunchtimes sufficiently frequently to know how good the view is! The food and service were excellent. Our waitress, Rita, was helpful and friendly, without being intrusive and the food was not just good, it was great value. £20 a head for two courses of well cooked and presented Christmas fare is more than reasonable. Don't miss it, if you have the chance.
The is a beautiful old building. Unfortunately the Palm restaurant is showing a distinct lack of maintenance. The roof has suffered water ingress which has stained the fabric on the ceiling making it look very unattractive and smell of damp. The seats were very old and worn out. The food was bizarre and not what you would expect from the description (barbecued or chargrilled chicken it was not), vegetables undercooked, a constant problem in many restaurants. As for service, one poor old chap running around trying to look after us, the only 2 diners in the Palm restaurant for lunch on a Thursday, the tea room and the outside garden. The management should be ashamed of themselves. The potential for this place is huge, absolute waste of a lunchtime opportunity. It should have been full on such a lovely day. Not sure if I would return, which is very sad.
Service was good. greeted upon entry and seated. Waiting staff polite and offering smiles. food of decent quality. Carvery 25 per head. cold starters of meats and salads. Main 4 meats and help yourself to veg. section of 4 desserts. Price little steep considering alternative options. The pianist was amazing and if it wasn't for the experience he created we may of left. The standard of building itself needs a lot of work, table cloths mopping up the leaking water coming through roof, dripping water onto other dining tables. Get improvements made to building and it would make for a great venue.
Plates, cutlery and butter were cold, butter was warmed by us on the radiator! This is the only negative and did nothing to deter us from having a good time. Portion size and food was the usual high standard and one would not go hungry at this venue. The waiter was attentive without being intrusive Thanks once again for an enjoyable evening!!
The sandwiches were very tasty as we're the scones. However we found the cakes a bit oily for our taste, admittedly it was a warm day though so this could have had something to do with it. The waiter was attentive without being intrusive. A very enjoyable tea time made even more special as it was a gift.
There were 5 of us and we had the lunchtime menu. The food was very nice and the cost reasonable. There was a pianist that played lovely music and you could make requests. Afterwards we went for a walk along the coast. It was a great afternoon, i would definitely go again.
