Rita our waitress was fabulous, really friendly and efficient. Tables all socially distanced, hand sanitiser etc. Food is all cooked fresh to order. Highly recommended.

Good food, with gluten free options. The menu seems to have shrunk, however.

Staff were rude to us, ignored us for the most part (we had to go to the front desk to get them to acknowledge that we wanted to pay and leave). I noticed they offered to take people's coats but didn't with us, the teacups weren't clean (I wiped dust and tea dribbles off mine).

Charming building, full of character. Maintenance must be quite tricky. We had Christmas Eve lunch there. The good was beautifully cooked and presented. Highly recommend the food and staff. Not five stars as communal areas could be cleaner.

Service was good. greeted upon entry and seated. Waiting staff polite and offering smiles. food of decent quality. Carvery 25 per head. cold starters of meats and salads. Main 4 meats and help yourself to veg. section of 4 desserts. Price little steep considering alternative options. The pianist was amazing and if it wasn't for the experience he created we may of left. The standard of building itself needs a lot of work, table cloths mopping up the leaking water coming through roof, dripping water onto other dining tables. Get improvements made to building and it would make for a great venue.

Sadly The Grand has seen better days. We were the only people in the restaurant but it took 40 minutes for our food to arrive. We were already thinking something must be wrong. When the food came it was so disappointing. Tasteless fish, over cooked vegetables and the “rib-eye” steak was clearly pan fried steak covered in sauce. When I complained the manager was extremely apologetic, suggesting he already knew things weren’t the best. The only good point about the place was that they wouldn’t take any payment for drinks or food. We left feeling very disappointed. A shame as we were enjoying Folkestone up until then.

Lovely meal, good price, good service, good food, nice quiet atmosphere. The Palm Court is always very quiet and perfect to meet friends where you are able to talk without lots of background noise.

Lovely setting, good food ( not great) but excellent value for money. Good service. Very happy to return when possible. Certain days there is a pianist playing, makes it even more memorable.

New Years Day Buffet Lunch. First course of various fish and salad good. Awful roast potatoes which appeared to have been deep fried from the night before and so overdone making it impossible to cut. Broccoli was old and yellow and covered in cheese to mask the poor condition, probably from the night before. Beef was very tough and difficult to cut and chew. Carrots good. Gravy good. This for £26 . Very poor value. Complained to manager who was 'Sorry about that" Not recommended and won't be returning.

The waitress was lovely and friendly. We had the Xmas menu, the starter was really tasty, unfortunately the turkey was dry and the gravy was Luke warm and the desert was supposed to be peach roulade but was made with pastry and was awful. We complained about the dessert and were refunded immediately. Good service but not overly impressed with the food.

Very enjoyable Christmas lunch and very good value. Gentle piano music being played in the background which gave a relaxed atmosphere in this beautiful, Victorian venue overlooking the channel.

An excellent meal at Folkestone's Grand Hotel Restaurant, overlooking the Leas and sea. OK, it was dark, so the view was missing but we've eaten there at lunchtimes sufficiently frequently to know how good the view is! The food and service were excellent. Our waitress, Rita, was helpful and friendly, without being intrusive and the food was not just good, it was great value. £20 a head for two courses of well cooked and presented Christmas fare is more than reasonable. Don't miss it, if you have the chance.

The Building is full of History and provides excellent vistas of the Channel. The Palm Court has attentive, Friendly staff who provide an excellent menu. We hand a First rate meal in charming surroundings. The Piano player provided some appreciated background music.

Place looking a little tired... confusing menus it is split into one area for tea and another more like a restaurant with a piano player which was a little too loud for my liking. Food was average and took quite long to arrive. Chicken and ribs overdone. Muscles in Canned soup. Little pricey for what it is. Decor could really do with an uplift, the floor with a scrub and the ceiling fabric needs to go as it’s all stained. Otherwise our waitress was lovely!!

Excellent food, well presented and the best view in Folkestone. Service in the Palm Court Restaurant is very good, but that in Keppels (downstairs) can be patchy and slow.

There were 5 of us and we had the lunchtime menu. The food was very nice and the cost reasonable. There was a pianist that played lovely music and you could make requests. Afterwards we went for a walk along the coast. It was a great afternoon, i would definitely go again.

The is a beautiful old building. Unfortunately the Palm restaurant is showing a distinct lack of maintenance. The roof has suffered water ingress which has stained the fabric on the ceiling making it look very unattractive and smell of damp. The seats were very old and worn out. The food was bizarre and not what you would expect from the description (barbecued or chargrilled chicken it was not), vegetables undercooked, a constant problem in many restaurants. As for service, one poor old chap running around trying to look after us, the only 2 diners in the Palm restaurant for lunch on a Thursday, the tea room and the outside garden. The management should be ashamed of themselves. The potential for this place is huge, absolute waste of a lunchtime opportunity. It should have been full on such a lovely day. Not sure if I would return, which is very sad.
