About the restaurant
The John Hewitt Belfast in something of an institution in the city. In fact, you could even say something of an icon. In the heart of Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, The John Hewitt is unique in that it’s owned by The Belfast Unemployed Resource Centre. Named after the late poet, socialist and Freeman of Belfast, The John Hewitt opened its doors in 1999 and has since become immensely popular for its traditional bar, home cooked food made with only the best local produce available and, these days, its live music. On Donegall Street, The John Hewitt is an essential drinking and dining spot in Belfast and reservations are essential.
