Very friendly but the food was very mediocre, more volume than quality. I was disappointed and it was the second time that I had chicken there that had blood near the bone.

Waited for one hour for bread and a little later for the 4 starters we ordered. Two were too salty and two were ok. Every table around us complained also so maybe just a terrible night for the kitchen but I wouldn’t go back.

Great food and service as always. I’ve taken friends and they are always impressed also. It’s a lovely place with friendly staff 👍😁😁😁

Having been regular diners at The Village Kitchen over many years, we decided to visit the restaurant under the new ownership. The ambiance and refreshed decor were very pleasant. However, when it was pointed out that a salmon starter was not up to scratch, one of the new owners, Billy, was not. He had a hissy fit as he snatched the plate away, stating quite forcefully that it would be taken off our bill. This was a shame as, although the rest of our meal was as good as it used to be under the previous management, our experience under the new was not. So, as the restaurant used to be one of our favourites, we are debating whether or not to give it another try.

Fab meal - Sunday dinner was lovely. Only negative comment was a number of the desserts were not available but that wasn’t a big deal.

Great food and hosts that made you feel at home!

Really lovely good quality food. The tuna carpaccio starter was very fresh and tasty, and the salmon and saffron potatoes superbly cooked. The vegan burger and gnocchi starter were also very tasty. Billy & Mel were great hosts. Well worth a visit.

Sat in the back room which was very hot and noisy . We couldn't hear each other speak. A shame because a family get together meal was spoilt because we all felt uncomfortable. One of our party had lamb knuckle which they enjoyed but the rest of us had nut roast which could have been better. I think the meal would have been improved by lots of fresh veg , sadly we had only 2 roast potatoes , a small piece of broccoli , tiny amount of cabbage and carrots .By comparison the 2 pieces of nut roast was enormous and we couldn't eat it all. All in all disappointing sadly.

Food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. The menu in the restaurant was much better than the online one, but I'm told they're updating the website soon.

My wife and I enjoyed a Sunday roast in The Kitchen after it’s recent change of ownership. We both thought the food was excellent but the desserts were a little too pricey for us to try. Overall, very good.

Billy and Melvin were very welcoming and food was delicious. Great service. They’ve really turned this restaurant around since they took over.

We had a lunch for 3 and although we were late as we got lost, the restuarant were really nice about it. We had the roast dinners; fish (cod) and the lamb shank and they were absolutely delicious. The yorkshire puddings deserve a special mention as they are huge but super tasty. We will be returning again.
