Excellent meal as always. Had guests with us up from Devon who were most impressed with the meal, service and choice on the menu. They have asked to visit again when they are next up.

Have not been for many months. We were delighted to see how busy The Malt Shovel was, Friday lunch time. Our meal was excellent. Very relaxed service and not chased up with endless drink requests and such like, prefer to have unhurried service too. We shall be back, now to checkout the Polish evening! Thanks MS

We (party of 9 for lunch on a Saturday) had a great time. Spent £258 but disappointed with the lack of steak of any kind on the menu, especially on a Saturday. Have dined here at lunchtime on at least three previous occasions when mussels and steak were both on the menu. They say we have to tell them we want steak when we book. How do we do that when booking through the website. And in any case what decent chef does not have steak on the menu at a country pub and restaurant. If we are to go again steak (at least two choices) has to be on the menu.

The Malt Shovel offered us such a fantastic experience. The food was wonderful and service second to none. We were eating with a one year old and they made us feel very welcome and put us at ease. We will definitely be returning!

The place by the cosy fire did not materialise although we were put in a pokey hole by an electric fire. My friend's meal was lovely but mine the liver was a bit tough around the edges. It was my birthday and had also been in a car accident and wanted to be by the fire to keep my aches and pains warm. The coffee was the worse coffee either of us had ever had and just left it. I have been several times before and enjoyed it but yesterday was a let down and we wondered if the owners had changed.
