The food was so tasty and the staff are also so friendly
The food was very lovely, we weren’t waiting long at all and the staff were so helpful we will definitely be coming here again! Great experience
Such a fun atmosphere and service was very fast and staff very friendly
Great food and atmosphere, staff very friendly and helpful. Will go again!
We booked a table for food for my moms birthday only to be told there was no food being served we booked last night so we came from gosforth for nothing very unhappy
NICE PLACE, GREAT STAFF, MEAL A BIT PRICEY FOR WHAT YOU GOT, POTATOES ROCK HARD, IN-FAIRNESS I'M SURE THEY WOULD HAVE REPLACED IF WE COMPLAINED, BUT WE ARE BRITISH :-)
Nice place. Pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. It's all good
Love the food during the week but the Sunday lunch was not as good as I was expecting, Whilst the service and atmosphere were excellent the advertised "crispy" roast potatoes weren't and the food could have been hotter. Overall I would strongly recommend the food from the week day menu but I won't be in a rush to try the Sunday lunch again
Absolutely unreal lamb dinner! Staff always so friendly too :)
Amazing as always! My first time trying the lamb out and it did not disappoint.
The Sunday Lunch is one of the best in Newcastle, the setting of the bar over looking the marina is beautiful. Staff extremely attentive and polite, would recommend to anyone and everyone.
Great food and great friendly staff.havent been for quite awhile but they remembered that we had been previously....welcomed back which was amazing.
Fantastic Mother’s Day Lunch. Staff very welcoming & attentive. Lovely Day.
had a fabulous time for my 80th birthday party of 25 thoroughly enjoyed sunday lunch went back 2 days later party of 6 everyone enjoyed their meal and hospitality.very much recommend your establishment for hospitality and good food reasonably priced i will be back
Great food, lovely beers and fantastic staff! All very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend the merchants tavern to anyone. The gammon is an excellent addition to the menu.
Busy Sunday visit and food took slightly longer than usual but to its usual good standard
Good home cooking. Nice and relaxed atmosphere and you're not asked every few minutes how everything is - which is a massive bug bear if mine with other places
Tasty food and good value for money when buying 2 or more courses. Nice visit to the Sunday local as usual and will be back again no doubt.
Great food - took a bit longer than usual but worth the wait. Service was polite, attentive and friendly too. Good value when ordering more than 1 course.
Meal was above average, but very noisy due to a party. Staff attentive and friendly. Reasonably priced for a Sunday lunch. Will try again in the future.
My scampi was ok - no garden peas or lemon as on menu. Partner's fish in well done side and portion of mushy peas miniscule.
AAA service fabulous food would recommend book first staff 1st class great service very good menu lovely views ejddjhd dcsdhfdhhffh fhdd ffjdhddgytry. Djddfgv. R c
Very friendly staff but also very quiet and no quiz was taking place on the Monday evening we visited. Staff did not acknowledge that we mentioned a booking reservation. Good music tracks from the 70’s and 80’s. Limited non meat food dishes and not everything was available from the menu with chef leaving just after 9 so no chance for a dessert. Tasty spicy tomato soup and team willing to offer flexible food mix to allow for dietary needs. If we were to visit again we would try to eat earlier.
Limited lunch menu., but what we got was ok. Staff pleasant and helpful. Hot sunny day but no shade (umbrellas) outside to sit. Nice area though!
Great place to eat. Excellent staff, very attentive. Be awaren6that special menues used nightly. You have to tell staff you want the main menu if that is what bought you here. Value for money? Yes.
Food was very good. However after main course we waited 45 mins and still no one came to ask if we wanted dessert. We eventually went and said we wish to pay and mentioned about poor service. In fairness they were very apologetic. There had been a problem with change over of staff.
Lovely staff and great tasty food to suit all the family young and old. Very reasonably priced menu and I sang along to the 80s and 90s classics playing while having lunch. Will certainly be going back! 😎
It was a very lovely three course meal. And great to be cooked for by an old friend. So thank you liam very much ;)
Lovely setting with views of St Peter's Marina. Varied lunchtime menu of full meals and lighter ones Food well prepared and nicely presented . Friendly service Really nice atmosphere and great that it's an independent local business rather than the more common standardised corporate offerings
Fantastic place and food was beautiful . Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable . Will certainly be back for more meals . Highly recommend this place
Relaxed nice setting, staff friendly and polite. Sunday lunch good apart from my husbands roast beef. We were asked how to have it cooked - well done our preferd choice. However came rare. He tryed to eat it. Otherwise everyhing was nice. Would not let this put me off though.
Food tasted great, service was good, definitely go back again. Going to a wedding here next year, so came along to have a look around, a great choice I think.
Food was fine, nothing exceptional but service was poor. Waiter spilled full glass of drink over table and us!! Full of apologies but still charged for drinks, no consideration given to reducing bill as compensation.
Excellent service. Food was fab. My wife and I went for Sunday lunch after a recommendation and we were not disappointed. Best roast potatoes I've ever had.
The food was beautifully prepared and well thought out. It's a lovley setting and the service was good. The price was very good for the standard of food. My only small niggle was that the deserts seemed a bit of an after thought ( which is often the case in very small kitchens with no proper pastry cheffs). We went at 8 on a Saturday night and were the only ones eating. I know its a bit out of town but I think it is only a matter of time before the word gets out how good it is. I would defiantly go again.
Good quality food and service, lovely location. We had Sunday lunch which was excellent along with a good selection of drinks to choose from, only downside was the card machine was not working, so cash only.
Good food and service. Far too loud with the local boat club giving speeches. It stopped us being able to speak to each other as they were so loud I couldn't hear my family. But pleased with the food as ever.
