The Norton Hotel was the worst comfort and eating experience I (or the other 8 members of my party experienced). Firstly the decor was cold and unwelcoming. Second there was no heating and it was really cold. We complained and were met with excuses but still no heating. Third the hot dishes in our starter course were delivered cold and had to be reheated. Fourth the main courses were worse than second rate. and finally they finally charged us too much and later when we discovered this they did not refund the difference It was a really spoilt evening - do not advise anyone to go there.

Sunday afternoon meal for 4. The food was fine but not of the usual standard found on previous visits. After finishing our starter my husband asked the waiter for another drink, it never arrived. On finishing our main course I went to the bar and ordered a round of drinks and the barmaid brought them over straight away. The waiter asked if we wanted pudding and brought the menu but never returned for the order. 25 minutes later the kitchen staff arrived in the bar dressed for home. We requested the bill, paid and left

Great steaks, great service with the staff I clouding the chef going that extra yard. The portions are good and nice presentation and don't be put off by its location, best steaks I have had in the UK.

After using the Norton for Sunday Lunch several times over the last few months and always having great meals we thought we had found a Gem Unfortunately on this weeks visit we were really let down 1 You were only able to order off the Sunday set menu which gave less options on sweets Starters were not what you would order to compliment a Sunday lunch Garlic mushrooms or chicken wings don't exactly go wit a Sunday Roast 2 Our meal then took 30 mins to arrive 3 Shock the lovely presentation we were used to had gone Plate swilling with Garvey Mash lumpy Roast Potatoes Half cocked Twice as much beef to normal but fatty and tough Not as good as a Toby carver now Get it back how it was or loose the good recommendations I was giving you Shame as it was good fair I hear the chef has moved on

We are retired and travel in GB. We treat ourselves to meals out and found the Norton to be welcoming. Spacious table positioning made eating and chatting comfortable. We had the New Yorker Burger and found the food just right. Good service and friendly. Would recommend it to anyone, do not let the drive through the industrial units put you off. An enjoyable eating adventure.

Had a lovely meal, food was really nice and service was great. Can recommend the shared desert platter which was super (not good for my diet thought)

Lovely food and good value for money. Service was very slow but the manager warned us of this in advance and was very apologetic throughout the evening even compensating us with starters and a drink

Second visit to the norton. Was a bit reluctant as service was not very good first time but better on this one. The steaks on both occasions were cooked perfectly . Will certainly return

Good service, nicely presented food, cooked well with lovely tender meat. Constructive criticism would be make your own Yorkshire puddings it makes it more profitable and better for the customer. Get your Mom to teach you how to roast potatoes, they should be fluffy in the middle and golden brown crispy on the outside! But overall a good value well cooked Sunday lunch in a nice friendly pub. I will be back :-)))

A recently renovated pub, that when we went, was very well looked after and family friendly. A bit tucked away by the station, so worth looking online for directions. We had Sunday lunch and all thoroughly enjoyed the meal - great value for money and the food was well presented and tasty. The staff were friendly and nice people, but lacked experience or awareness. We had a lot of errors; a forgotten main, a forgotten dessert and an incorrect bill. Not an issue for us this time, but if the service was a bit more polished, this pub would be a real gem. It has the potential, so please work on your staff training!

We got stuck in terrible traffic en route and missed our reservation time by miles, but the Norton was quiet and we were welcomed in and ushered to a suitable table. The food was pleasant, and service good. The music was slightly incongruous with the otherwise lovely décor/atmosphere of the restaurant section of the pub - but it wasn't loud enough to spoil a good experience.

Sorry but i have been to the norton a few times and the experience has been brilliant but we made a visit on Saturday 11th July, the staff that was on duty did nit seem to care about the customers, we placed our order and waited 45 mins, while we were waited we were asked if we wanted the bill, i told him that we had not had our starter, the starter arrived and my husbands starter was horrible , the potatoes were raw, i told the waitress who just said 'i will take it off the bill' no apologises, when the main arrived 20 mins later it was cold, so i left mine, my husband did eat his, as i say been a few times and its been brilliant, not sure what is going on, but the staff on a Saturday do not give a damn about what is going on, clearing tables with there coat on seems to me they just want to get off and go home.....

We took advantage of the offer of a starter and main for £10. Excellent food, could not fault it at all for the price. Service was great but bit slow. However this was only due to the fact the waitress was on her own for the time we were there and it was quite busy for an early Monday evening but she did a sterling job keeping a number of full tables happy. Only negative was £4.40 for a pint of Peroni. I expect this price in the City but not a local pub regardless of its ambitions but please do not let this put you off. Well done to the chef and staff on the night.

This was our first and last visit. It's definitely not a gastro pub. Dark, dingy, clientele in main dining area in work clothes like a working men's club and above all - IT SMELLS LIKE DRAINS. We couldn't face eating there with such a horrid smell in the air.

Don't be fooled that this out of the way country pub on an industrial estate is anything other than a diamond in the rough! The food is exceptional- home cooked no jars or freezer stuff here the staff a credit to the art of hostelry... You really need to give the pub/restaurant a try! You'll be back !

We arrived just before 6pm (5:57) on Sunday 1st February very hungry. We did honestly believe that we would not get the opportunity to sit down and have a meal together... as the kitchen closed at 6:00pm. We were delighted to be told that it was fine to order what we wanted and also that we could choose where we wanted to sit. So, we sat next to the radiator and we were totally `toasty` warm as we enjoyed drinks, and 2 lovely courses. I ordered the T`bone steak, chips, mushrooms and onion rings with peppercorn sauce for my meal and a chocolate tarte with ice cream for a dessert. Have to say, I was gobsmacked at the quality and taste for the price. The chips were so fluffy and tasted amazing, as the steak, mushrooms and onion rings did also. The sumptuous chocolate tarte with ice cream topped it off beautifully! My partners Chicken & Chirozo Chiabatta sandwich/burger tasted just as yummy... had to have a bite myself! Totally recommended!!!!!! Be back very soon. Thanks and compliments to Adam & Lucas

No one in the pub when we arrived had to hunt for a member of staff. Unfortunately it was not a good day to go as it was the day after Boxing Day & no fresh food had been delivered so consequently there was certain items on the menu we couldn't have. We all chose fish & chips in beer batter - which was freshly made batter. The fish & batter were excellent but chips were over cooked. No one else in the pub eating all the time we were there- around lunchtime so didn't make for a good atmosphere. The waiter was friendly & attentive. Toilets were freezing cold. First time we had been to the pub but not sure if would go back again.

Far from what their webpage and TripAdvisor .... got the Mushroom, Thyme and Brandy Stroganoff ... 2 sliced Mushrooms in a overpowering thyme sauce with no taste of Brandy. Served with rice on cold plates, the dish was cold within 2 minutes ....... looked like something my 10 year old could have made. My partner is gluten intolerance and asked a few questions about the dishes that she knew that she could eat. She got the Chicken and Chorizo ....... and a plate of vegetables. The Chorizo was a normal sausage that contained bread crumbs..... this was not a good experience. We did not pay for the meals and had to go somewhere else to eat.... a waste of time.
