When we arrived for lunch they highlighted that they had no food whatsoever, not even a sandwich - only drinks. They charge £3.00 for parking (even for customers) and we were the only 2 customers!
The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. Great portion size and clearly handmade. We had a lovely evening. The only downside was the toilets are in need of a little tlc but they were still clean just needs the broken bits fixed- we will definitely be going back.
Awful. There was no table ready for us, Food was very average & service was non existent. We had to take our own order & give it to the kitchen. Would go here for a drink but wouldn’t eat here again. No one else was eating there so maybe that was a sign.
Service was very slow, hardly any staff, had to wait over 30 minutes for 5 meals and the place was empty. had to go into the kitchen to get attention so I could pay. Food quality was poor for 3 of the 5 meals. Chicken very dry, overcooked; lasagne dry no sauce. Lovely garden for the summer though. Okay for a drink but not for food.
Pancakes were a great idea, but 1 plate would have been plenty for the 3 of us. Great service, everyone trying very hard to please. Will use again
Very nice atmosphere. Sunday Roast was okay but considering it was Mothers Day, they did very well. Would go back if just for the desserts, which were fantastic! Staff very friendly.
Very nice Sunday lunch. Kids meals were off on a Sunday which was different to what i was informed when I booked. My 2 don't really like roast so that left kids size fish and chips as the only option. Parking procedure and charges overly complicated...
Good food generous portions but spoiled by cold bowls and plates.food was hot but soon became cold. Shame really good experience overall Would go again
The food was fine, wasn't bad but wasn't outstanding either, just average pub food really so seemed a little overpriced for the standard. Food came quickly and the waiter was nice. Good to see full English breakfast available until 4pm and the prices for breakfast were very cheap. Only had 1 pudding available from the whole dessert menu and the room was draughty. During a delivery they left the door open for ages so we froze while we ate. They apologised but it's not exactly nice to sit in 2 degree temperatures during my dads birthday lunch and they could have closed the door between each load if they had any sense. Overall a pretty average experience - a weak choice for a birthday meal but good for breakfasts and sandwich lunch deals.
Very good meal! Had a lovely time there with good food and drink. Will definitely have another burger night there. Perfect for people on a budget and really good food!
Sunday lunch, fantastic. Cooked really well with generous portions. Service very friendly and welcoming, nothing too much trouble. Will definitely be back to eat here again
excellent food would highly reccommend, food and service was lovely would go back again. Good location and plenty of parking facilities. 5 stars from me
Food was ok - but that was it - ok. Service staff were very polite but the timing was very poor. I think they were overcome by a large Christmas group. Menu was printed on buff coloured paper in light grey ink. Difficult to read in atmospheric lighting. We have been to this restaurant 3 times since it reopened. First time was great. Second time the burger ordered had to go back. This time had service issues. Think it "sums "the venue up. Could be good. Question is should you rely on luck?
A great Sunday roast served by friendly staff. I would recommend the experience to my friends. I hope others will enjoy also, and spread the word.
No welcome,, the pub is being run by kids No menus, waited to be seated when we could of just sat anywhere. Had to ask for kids menu although they could see I had kids
I booked a table for lunch for three people. We all enjoyed our meals and will be coming back again in the future Really nice ambience.
Awful. Very slow service and had to ask to have our order taken and then after an hour our starters still hadn't arrived so we left and went somewhere else.
This was the first time we tried the Old Mill since it opened and we were not disappointed. They recognise that they have to work hard to get people through the doors and the deal that was on offer was excellent value for money. We will definitely be back and I urge those that have yet to try the Old Mill to book a table soon. The quality of the food was excellent and the service was top draw also.
a bit of a mish mash of decor,a pub that's unsure of what it wants to be.lighting upstairs is very bright, and sat directly underneath I couldn't see a thing as it reflected off of my specs.Food was good 😁 Staff were ok,although they were short staffed.food was good if a fraction pricey for what it was
The specials are good, but attention to detail required. Some of the dishes were dry (lasagne) & the mushrooms - which was part of the Steak & Chips special - were stone cold. The White House wine was exceptional, as was the waitress service.
Not good! Staff, if you could find them, were untrained and food service was poor.Food when it came was okay but I won't be rushing back!
Good value for money, food was great, would recommend. Good value for money, food was great, would recommend. Good value for money, food was great, would recommend.
NOT GREAT. NO ATMOSPHERE, AVERAGE FOOD, POOR SERVICE. WON'T GO BACK AGAIN. THERE IS TOO MUCH COMPETITION IN PORTISHEAD TO RUN AN AVERAGE RESTAURANT, IT NEEDS TO UP ITS GAME.
We were unable to find a member of staff to help us. Two young staff members at the bar were struggling to cope with people at the bar. After searching upstairs and downstairs to find where we should go for our meal, we finally left and ate elsewhere. Very disappointing.
The food was good but the service was very slow and the music was rather loud but it was turned down when we asked. Staff were pleasant.
Good basic food. Helpful and attentive staff. Small but attractive outside eating area, but unfortunately for us, a bit too windy that day to sit outside.
The food was OK, not brilliant but acceptable (except the raspberry ripple ice cream with sponge roll for £5:50 which in reality is 4 wafer thin slices of an arctic roll! Yes really!) the setting was fine, the service was not really, in reality they were either very inexperienced or just completely untrained in serving customers, putting another tables dirty plates on our table whilst picking up one of our parties finished plate while the rest of us are still eating was not really acceptable. Service was extremely slow and when we ordered deserts we got 'yes you might just be in time for desert, this at 21:30, distinctly felt we were being rushed so they could leave. Would not go here again. Thankfully the company we were with more than made up for everything else, will just take the company elsewhere in future
Nice surrounding''s, great food and good service. Very well priced and the portions are huge!!! Selection of beers is good . Needs music in the up stairs restaurant.
Booking was very easy and the staff were very helpful . Our meal was very enjoyable, and the ambience was lovely - my friends and I will be visiting again soon.
We enjoyed our meal but my chips seem to have been recooked and were hard, but as I am not overly keen on chips it wasn't too much of a problem.
Food was ok - decent pub grub, generous platefuls. Service needs some finessing - had to ask for menus (!), table next to us had to ask for cutlery, another table had empty dishes uncleared for around 20 mins. But that will come with experience - staff are still learning. Not great, but certainly not bad.
Lovely place, but the service is very very slow, and you get the general feeling that the staff don't really know what they are doing. It was over an hour before our food order was taken, and then at least another hour to get the food! We were even brought our bill before the food had arrived. We are not likely to be going back anytime soon :-(
We booked our table for 8 at 7:45 and were not served our food until 9pm. The manager was apologetic ad gave us drinks for the inconvenience so 10/10 for instantly offering an olive branch. Food however was excellent, especially as vegetables etc were not just 'standard fare' and suited the meal chosen.
Very basic menu, most dishes came with chips only. Waiting staff mostly young and inexperienced. Really need to up their game if they hope to make it in Portishead.
Food was very good. Large portions. Seating upstairs more comfortable and cosy. Service was good. Car park in grounds was not available due to a Saturday market which was unfortunate because we had elderly people to get there.
Our third visit to the Old Mill, this time mid-week to celebrate a birthday. Sadly, unlike the previous visits the service was lamitably slow. One hour wait for the first course. When the food did eventually arrived one meal was cold. A disappointing experience.
