Booked at short notice on Easter Sunday. Menu was varied but a little on the pricy side. Lamb was tasteless and not much of it. A couple of roast potatoes and a bit of veg. Service but good drinks were expensive. Won't be doing this one again. Can't recommend.
Such a lovely cosy country pub. A great start or end to the Staveley Cycle walk. Great service and beautiful food and wine. Ive taken all my visitors there and I'll continue to do so.
A thoroughly enjoyable meal , but when I checked the bill when I got home ( husband payed ) I had been charged for 3 courses and 2 courses , instead of 4 x 2 courses , we had a prawn cocktail and a pate for starters and 2 crumbles for dessert otherwise everything else was perfect Thanks Hazel
Fantastic Food and the staff and service were excellent! Perfect Sunday lunch enjoyed by all of us! I would highly recommend visiting this lovely pub.
Great food, friendly staff. The beer is really good as well
We ate at the Royal Oak for the first time last night, the staff were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. The choice of food was really good and the starters arrived quickly. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, we will certainly be returning soon and i can recommend this pub for a really nice meal with a good ambiance.
Great fish and chips and service. Good welcome. Royal Oak is a typical country pub with good atmosphere and local community. We look forward to our next visit.
Good food and choice of drinks. Friendly and obliging staff. Four of us had lunch, two burgers and two steaks all of which were good quality and well presented. Followed by delicious puddings. Will go again.
Very good food, only gets a 5 out of 6 as rarely give full marks on any review. Sunday roast was excellent. Will dine there again.
Worth a visit. Excellent food, good price, lovely people, excellent service. We would highly recommend to anyone. We will be visiting again soon. Thank you
The pub was a little quiet for a Saturday night and there were lots of changes being made, however the food was lovely and service also good. BUT the flies were awful, landing of us and our food. Not sure I would go again, what will it be like in summer?
Excellent food, friendly service and a pub in a lovely setting close to a Yorkshire Wildlife Nature reserve. It is perfect for a day out in a lovely area.
Very good service nothing was too much trouble food was lovely. Nice atmosphere with lovely surroundings would definitely recommend a visit. Could imagine it would be lovely in the winter with the open fire
Friendly staff and lovely food. Missing the previous little touches of 'theatre' in the food presentation though. Dining room was a little cold but that's nit picking. Really enjoyable evening and worth the drive from York.
Excellent Sunday lunch, with good sized portions, pleasant staff pity about the cold plates and more potatoes would have been welcome. Good value for money, will return.
Nice food and the outside tables were fab for the sunny afternoon we spent there. Good prices, nice ales and great service. Haven't tried desserts yet but definitely next time. Will return.
Brilliant Pub, food excellent and service first class. Walked in to warm and cosy bar area with an open fire and ushered into a nicely decorated rear bar with more tables. Unfortunately this part of the bar area had no heating on in it but luckily we had extra layers in the car to put on which saved the day. We will certainly be back, a great find.
The staff were very friendly, service very efficient and the food absolutely delicious. Will certainly be going back. Make sure you book on a Sunday and it was very busy.
Highly recommend this pub the food was excellent and service too, and reasonably priced, found it whilst visiting Knaresborough and will be returning when in the area again
We visited for sunday lunch and found the food to be delicious, service warm and the ambience was top notch. Highly recommended!! Thank you very much, we'll be back soon.
Food was excellent again though potatoes seemed to be rationed , service was a bit slack, though to give benefit of the doubt it was very busy
Rating based on previous visits. Unfortunately this time round we were sat next to very loud family group that spoiled our lunch somewhat. The food on the whole is great but on this occasion my Beef was quite fatty and very difficult to cut. I ended up leaving about a third of mine. My Lemon Posset dessert was to die for though! Everything else is lovely - attentive staff, nice surroundings, beautiful village.
Great atmosphere , and great food! Will definitely be returning ! We had a great table in the Window alcove. Staff very good and attentive .
Fabulous meal and service as always! We have been on numerous occasions to the Royal Oak and each and every time we have had a fabulous meal with service that is totally faultless - nothing is too much effort for the staff!
