The West Midlands is a haven for those who love Indian and Bangladeshi food, and at The Rugeley Spice, you can find out exactly why. Based on Market Street in central Rugeley, they dole out lashings of spicy, sometimes fiery curry to the hungry Staffordshire public, who travel in from as far as Cannock and Stone. You can take our word for it, but better still, head down there yourself to sample their wares.
Pleasant staff and good service. Very tasty food - could have done with a bit more chicken in the chicken sag aloo but really good nan bread, especially the coriander one. A pity the sparkling water was flat! Certainly good value - especially as we were using Tastecard.
The relationship between the West Midlands and curry is a long and happy one. Since the arrival of migrants from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh in the 1950s and 60s, the region has gone spice-crazy, with curry houses aplenty. Flying the flag in the Rugeley and Cannock region is The Rugeley Spice on Market Street, which offers a full menu of all your Indian favourites, and you can bring your own booze as well.
Their menu might not spring that many surprises, but when you do the basics as well as they do here, then you don’t need to go further. From their location on Market Street in the middle of Rugeley town centre, they offer a selection of starters – poppadom and pakora fans will not go home unhappy – as well as a huge range of curries and kebabs straight from their tandoor oven. As curries in Cannock go, there are few to compete with the Rugeley Spice, so book yourself a table now for a bosting Indian feed.
