The Safari Hut

Bristol is home to restaurants of all stripes, and whether you want a curry house or a trattoria, a dim sum palace or a sushi bar, you’re unlikely to go disappointed. One of the latest additions to the culinary landscape is The Safari Hut, an African restaurant in Bristol that is slowly building a name for itself. Their speciality, of course, is African food, and that means meat and rice dishes, grilled whole fish and hearty stews: we’d recommend the efo soup with ground melon seed, veggies, peppers and traditional spices and optional pounded yam, jollof rice (the national dish of Ghana) with fried fish, beef or a quarter of chicken or for the adventurous, plantain and chicken gizzard with pepper sauce. Take a trip to The Safari Hut on Blackberry Hill in Fishponds for an African treat in Bristol – just remember to book ahead, as they’re becoming increasingly popular and will get crowded on occasion.
