Scotts Arms

The Scotts Arms is located in the picturesque village of Sicklinghall, just outside the Leeds suburb of Wetherby, and is everything one could hope for in a British country pub. Their menu is heavy on the favourites, but when your local cuisine includes dishes like these, made with ingredients like these, why try to do anything else? The Main Street pub offers steaks, scampi, fish & chips and the like, all served up in beautiful surroundings and at a reasonable price.

The Yorkshire country pub is often seen as a dying breed, but up in the village of Sicklinghall, just outside of Leeds and only three miles from Wetherby, they’re keeping the (open log) fires burning. The Scotts Arms on Main Street is an old-school Yorkshire boozer, albeit one where the modern and the traditional meet. It retains many of its 17th-century features, and the menu reflects the finer points of local culinary history. It is heavy on British pub favourites, from fish finger butties and homemade Scotch eggs at lunch to gammon and eggs, sirloin steak and wild boar, herb & apple sausages with mash.

To limit their menu to the standard dishes of British pub grub would do the Scotts Arms a disservice. Leeds is coming up in the culinary world, and the Scotts Arms on Main Street in Sicklinghall reflects this movement forwards, serving up the likes of Thai Green curry, linguine frutti di mare and pulled pork sandwiches alongside all the classics that one would hope to see in a British country pub. Their Sunday lunch is also a local staple out on the outskirts of Wetherby, so make sure you book ahead of time to ensure a seat – when they run out, they run out, so get in early.
