Located on The Mount, close to a number of famous landmarks, The Ship is a fixture in Eighton Banks. Serving up Thai and Italian cuisine, as well as an array of pub food favourites, there’s something for everyone on the menu at The Ship, and with its cosy atmosphere and traditional decor with exposed brick walls, it is equally as popular for a few pints as it is for a big, family meal. Tuck into Thai favourites like the tempura king prawns, red Thai curry and crispy fried fillet of beef served with stir-fried vegetables, a hot sauce and jasmine rice, go Italian with choices like the bolognese or pepperoni pizza, or chow down on a juicy burger or steak. Attracting guests from all over the Gateshead area, spaces at The Ship are limited. Book ahead to avoid missing out!
Lovely atmosphere. Mothers day meal was beautiful and Mams got a free glass of prosecco. Great value for money and will be visiting again in future. Lovely day with family and friends! Xx
Pleasant staff, nice food, good view. What more could you ask for? I had the Thai green curry with chicken, and it was lovely. Recommended.
Food was amazing and plenty of it. table for 9 requested and it was ready when we arrived. Didn't wait long for food to be served. Staff were very efficient, friendly and nothing was a bother to them. 5* food, 5* setting, 5* staff
We are Sunday night regulars at The Ship for their buskers night so, for convenience, we wanted to have our Fathers Day meal there too although we had never eaten there before. Unfortunately, like many food pubs, they stopped serving food quite early on a Sunday. Using Quandoo We booked for 17.00 (the last available time) but later spoke to them personally and they kindly agreed to keep their kitchen open later just for us as regular players. When we arrived it was clear that they had made a big effort for us as we were the only customers ordering and eating and we got a personal service from all the staff. The food was excellent and the portions were generous. The service was exemplary too. This was our first experience of eating at The Ship but it will not be the last.
Very nice decor, friendly staff and lovely view over the hills if you’re sat at one of the windows facing them. Food was nice, I might have been a bit more impressed if all Sunday lunches hadn’t come swimming in gravy then we were offered extra gravy! Was already too much on for my personal liking. Service for drinks and main course was very quick but staff fell down when nobody asked if we would like a dessert or anything else so, after waiting a while to try and catch someone, we just went and paid the bill which was reasonable
Great Lunch, Roast Pots to die for and a large plate of well cooked food and side dish of veg to top it up. Staff very friendly and helpful, we will definitely try it again (Soon) John and Susan
The dining experience was good. 3 people booked for Sunday lunch. Very generous portions of food and the drinks are reasonably priced. We will return.
It was fine. Good service and the food was ample and nutritious. We will happily return inn the not too distant future for Sunday lunch.
Lovely staff and lovely food but Thai currys could have done with a bit more spice. Can't fault it otherwise and would definitely recommend a visit
Staff were great and friendly but the pizzas we ordered were raw, we complained and they were removed from the bill. Singer was good though.
