Britain does a good line in country pubs – roaring fires, ancient buildings, traditional British menus – and in Lowick, they’ve got one of the best examples of the genre around. All the hallmarks are there, but we think they’d rather us tell you about the way they combine the classic – 16th Century manor house, check, local cask ales, check – with the contemporary, in the form of an a la carte menu of modern British cooking and a cocktail menu packed with drinking delights from all around the world. Head to Main Street in the Northamptonshire village of Lowick to experience what The Snooty Fox has to offer.
The Snooty Fox is found in the centre of Lowick village, inside a 16th-century former manor house on the Main Street, and they bring to the table a huge range of dishes that showcase the best in local and regional products, cask ales and British pub food. They are suitable for the whole family, of course, so don’t be afraid to bring the whole brood – the bar section is separate from the fine dining a la carte restaurant.
Begin your meal at The Snooty Fox with some Stilton mushrooms or fresh Scottish mussels, before moving on to sample their range of steaks, their venison loin, their Gressingham duck breast or the veggie-friendly wild mushroom and goats’ cheese vol-au-vents. Finish it off with an Eton Mess or a British cheese platter for a proper English feast in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside in the village of Lowick. Remember to book a table ahead of your visit though, as they do get busy – this is a real local's’ favourite.
Fantastic food that you could tell was freshly cooked, portion size was just right. The staff were very friendly and didn't make you feel rushed even though it was mothering Sunday and they we're busy.
Lovely pub, great food, superb service. Made our first valentines perfect. Thankyou very much to the staff and chefs and everyone involved at the snooty fox!
The food was excellent, very friendly staff and the service was prompt. The were accommodating with our baby and large Pram. We will definitely visit again.
Food was excellent, as well as service from the staff, highly recommend .Also the food for each course was not rushed on you and a nice atmosphere
We have eaten at The Snooty Fox many times now - it is an ideal place for meeting friends from a distance. The service is always impeccable and the food has always been fabulous. Today the roast beef was delicious, as always, however today the roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were over-cooked and mainly just crunchy with little else and we were disappointed that the cauliflower cheese was tiny. The rest of the food was great and we will return.
We booked for my son's birthday 8 people altogether & the staff were very polite and the food was delicious. My elderly mother who also celebrated her birthday recently was treated exceptionally well and the staff went the extra mile which made her evening. I would definitely recommend The Snooty Fox to friends and will be returning at some point soon hopefully.
We found the snooty fox to be a lovely welcoming pub with a bar or restaurant menu available in the separate restaurant. The pub itself was cosy and had a lovely feel with settees by the fire and the staff were lovely with our waitress being being possibly the most smoky person I've ever met! And the food was beautiful, great selection and a specials board. We had the steak and if was mouth watering and as it was my daughters 18th they bought the cake out and sang happy birthday too :)
We went to the Snooty Fox for lunch on Saturday. The choice of starters and main courses was varied and there were several of each we would have liked to try as well as the meals we choose. The food was really fantastic and as usual the service was brilliant. The desserts were mainly traditional which pleased me but I think my Wife would have liked something lighter and maybe a little more exotic.
Been here before on a Sunday afternoon and the experience was fantastic. This time I took my family there for Mother's Day and it was not as good as our previous visit. Food was of a high quality, though the roast potatoes were rock solid that my 11 yr old could not cut into them. There staff seemed inexperienced behind the bar but this might be due to getting extra people to accommodate the busy day and not being fully trained. Price wise I thought was expensive, but overall a very good place to go for the special occasions.
The Snooty Fox is a beautiful building and dining space. Lovely food, and excellent service; staff were attentive- all in all a very enjoyable evening.
