The Squirrel, Farnborough

First, when we got there, they had no record of our booking. So I showed them the confirmation email. They found us a table for the 5 of us. Although we ordered the food together, I had finished mine before 2 more got there meal, then another wait until the final 2 got theirs. Our desserts were brought out at different times and they made a mistake with the order.

Unknown to me and my friend, it was quiz night. The microphone was so loud every time the quizmaster spoke, it was made uncomfortable listening. The food came and my lamb shank had been microwaved as the plate was piping hot but the lamb was still cold at the bottom and the mash potato was only just warm so I returned it for a different dish, that was £2 cheaper… no refund offered. Got my different choice of food, tasted lovely but the chicken in the curry was a little tough. Either it was microwaved or over cooked. My friend and I then ordered sticky toffee pudding and both of our puddings were again like warm so I sent mine back for a pudding that was hot. Again no compensation was offered such as a free drink. The menu has changed so less choice and the quality of food has gone down considerably since I last ate in The Squirrel in the summer. A) I will avoid quiz nights in future as they are so loud, uncomfortably loud and B) I won’t be eating in there again
