The Sushi Maki - Newbury

Great food and still a lovely place to have Sushi. New front of house staff will take a little while to settle in and may never be as competent as the previous manager (she will be a very hard act to follow)

This was a great experience. Really friendly team. Fresh and tasty food. The staff talked us through all the different Sushi and sake. We got really friendly advice on everything we asked for: what to try together, what sequence to try things in and recommendations. We ignored some advice and they were great with that too.

Absolutely amazing, Brilliant food and service. The restaurant might be on the smaller side, but it felt like there was only the two of us in there and some scrumptious food.

By far the best local sushi restaurant I have visited. Great menu, excellent service. It is always my first choice. You are made to feel very welcome by the amazing staff, they are very attentive and speed at which your food is ready is superb. Two of us went, having booked a space earlier the same day and we to sit at the bar area where you can watch the eat in and take out food being prepared. Salty and Spicy Edamame to start were great, lovely and fresh with a nice kick of spice and then, being the greedy bugger that I am, a 16 piece sushi of the day (mixed platter) followed by 5 pieces of snow crab futomaki the missus went for the crunch tempura roll and the other half of the snow crab. The Sushi was delicious, absolutely spot on and just what we needed at the end of the week, the Asahi beer went some way to helping with that too ;). We had a relatively early table, booking started at 7:30pm but there were already a couple of tables busy chatting, by the time we left the restaurant was full and a number of people were coming and going, collecting their take out orders, it was a great atmosphere with a gentle hum of chatter. Highly recommend The Sushi Maki for all your Sushi needs, and it's open day and night, so you can pop in for lunch or a takeaway. Excellent experience!
