Located on All Saints Street in the city centre, The Tamarind Tree is the place to go for an authentic taste of Thailand in Norwich. Owned by Peerada Morgan Johnson, the native Thai owner of Thai Herbal Retreat and Spa, The Tamarind Tree’s menu is packed full of healthy and nutritious takes on her favourite Thai dishes, for a dining experience that is good for both the body and soul. Begin with some Thai fish cakes or the golden bag (ground pork mixed with Thai herbs, dried mushrooms, and vegetables wrapped in a pastry parcel and served with sweet chilli sauce), before moving on to a mouth-watering curry, a bowl of soothing coconut soup, or a Thai classic like the spicy papaya salad or pad thai. With its central location, The Tamarind Tree is a popular choice, whether its for a working lunch or a special evening meal. Book ahead to guarantee a table!
Superb all round. Service and food equally good. Waitress also took the effort to find my number and call me after leaving my bag in the restaurant once we'd left.
Excellent Service and amazing food. It was very straight forward to book. The staff were very friendly and as it was a lunchtime treat from work the speed in which the food was served was perfect.
Friendly attentive service. Wonderful tasty Thai food. We had the mixed starters then shared some mains and sticky rice. This is one of my favourite places to eat in Norwich right now.
We highly recommend the Tamarind Tree in Norwich we have been several times and not been dissapointed, the quality of the food and the service we rate very highly, we have recommended and taken friends and they also agreed it is a lovely place to eat and would certainly go back, they also do a lunchtime special, which is such a good price especially if you have a family, we would say the Tamarind is the best Thai in Norwich and we have tried them all. The food here was excellent - I love Thai and I have a favourite restaurant to go to but this will be my new favourite! The food was hot very fresh and served quickly. the only disappointment was the service which lets it down. The service isn't as friendly or professional as other restaurants. We waited a long time after our mains for our bill. We sat in the front of the restaurant near the bar and our conversation was interrupted at least 3 times by the waitress making some form of cocktails in blenders which was so very loud. It was busy so is obviously very popular but could improve on the service front - but this isn't enough to deter us - the food will bring us back.
Our first visit and the food and service was amazing will defo b back :) great value for money as well. We didn't feel rushed and were the last table there and were still made to feel welcome
The service was attentive with welcoming smiles. The food was delicious with authentic tastes. Creative decoration in the restaurant to give atmosphere. A little noisy on the evening but this was because of a large party dining. Well done to all the staff and chef.
Lovely food and speedy service. We had the sharing platter to start, which was delicious. I had sweet and sour for main, which again was very tasty and just the right portion size. The restaurant had a good atmosphere.
Delicious and excellent food and attentive staff - what more could you ask for. The restaurant wasn't very busy but our table was booked for 6 pm. As we were leaving more diners were coming in to eat.
Food was very good, service was ok but not great and this restaurant is very noisy which doesn't make for a great atmosphere. Probably best for Lunch rather than Dinner. Both Thailand and the Giggling Squid are better in my opinion
