What a lovely little pub. The decor and outside area is beautiful. We went for Sunday Lunch and our food was so amazing..My daughter loved Desperate Dan’s Pie, she said it was so amazing and she wants the recipe so I can make it 🤣.. For all you sweet tooth fans you must try white chocolate cheesecake is so delicious apart from I’m not sure if the parchment paper was supposed to be left on but who cares it was still demolished in minutes... Highly recommended to anyone, you won’t be disappointed. Staff are really good and friendly 🥂

One of the nicest pubs in the area with quality food. This was our first visit and we were not disappointed. The food and service were excellent. The food is a notch up on normal pub grub. We will be back often.

Only booking in the morning, for lunch, we were surpried that we were able to get a table, as it was very busy. Without exception, every member of staff gave excellent service.

We had visited the Tickled Trout just before lockdown with a a group of friends and had a lovely meal. Last night was very disappointing. Not as much choice of menu and generally the food was under seasoned and not as well cooked. A very uncomfortable table, a square table with two sides impossible to be comfortable (large table legs).

My fish dish was good but my husband’s steak and ale pie was very average; far too much pastry ratio to meat. Service was efficient.

Very good service, good food and big portions. Excellent service. Had fish and chips and partner home made steak and ale pie. Decor is fantastic. Obvious by name it is a fish restaurant but had a few alternatives and a specials board.

First time in months when we could access our favourite local restaurant.And we had a £40 discount as well! We went to the Tickled Trout since it's opening and it is still very,very good. Parking is the only problem - but it is worth the effort!

Returned to the Tickled Trout for our first post-lockdown trip. Social distancing set up is great. One way entrance/exit, hand sanitiser available, plenty of outdoor seating for those who would prefer. Waiting staff ask that you pass plates down the table and stack your plates at the end of the meal to prevent having to lean over you. All staff wearing masks, but I had no problems hearing them. Full menu on offer. We went for a midweek lunch and there was a full range of specials, pizzas (new outdoor pizza oven) as well as the usual menu list which ranges from light sandwiches through to an exquisite three course affair. Delicious food, beautiful presentation, friendly and efficient staff. We look forward to our next visit.

The virus issues were handled well and the food was good however it was noisy and our table was small and very cramped in the 'snug' (which in fact is a corridor into the main dining room). Why not use the dining room for its intended purpose and the snug for overspill if necessary?

Our first dinner out with friends post “lock down”.. nice welcome .. & atmosphere pleasantly busy with social distancing. Food was tasty better than pub grub but not fine dining. Had a sneak preview of the rooms they look amazing and will book for friends to stay next month. Outside pizza area is fab we will be back .. the tickled trout is a much needed and welcome restaurant in the area .. .

We really enjoyed the first dining experience we were able to have for months! The staff were attentive, the seats were very comfortable. I chose the chicken dish , it was delicious! My friend had the halibut , which was less interesting, she had been hoping for fish and chips but it wasn’t on the menu! However as we left we noticed a blackboard with a lot of other choices , which the waitress had failed to point out. Fish and chips was on it!!! We pointed it out and they apologised. I think that error deserves a free bottle of wine next time as we plan to go as a four in a few weeks!! I don’t think that will happen as they don’t really know us! Oh well!

Very welcoming. Done their best with Covid restrictions but felt safe. Food was good although not sure salad is the right accompaniment for a fish pie. Service friendly and efficient. Would go again

Pea Soup rich & creamy & bursting with summer freshness: Black Pudding rich & fruity due to the added apricots: Roast Beef amazing, soft & full of flavour, perfect roast potatoes: Smoked Salmon, smoked in house with just the right amount of smokiness (not salty) & paired perfectly with the beets. Service was exceptional, staff very attentive & helpful with regards to the new protocol. The atmosphere was welcoming & it felt very safe to be there.

Great food and service. Covid arrangements worked really well. Brilliant organisation by Carl, management and staff. Be back soon, already booked for the outside tent, pizza and Prosecco!!

Excellent Crab Soup. Sea trout ok but broccoli was past its best.

World famous crab soup lived up to its title. Monkfish special excellent. Seated in back room near exit door, very confined and lacking atmosphere. Main dining room much better if available.
