The Warehouse Bar & Kitchen
About The Warehouse Bar & Kitchen
Located on Chapel Street North in Colchester’s town centre, The Warehouse Bar & Kitchen is a loft-style restaurant serving up steaks, grills and sharing platters, as well as a number of classic British dishes. By day, The Warehouse Bar & Kitchen provides a cosy place for coffee, cake and lunch, and by night, this stylish bar and restaurant turns into one of Colchester’s go-to destinations for a special night out with its buzzing atmosphere and lengthy list of cocktails shaken up by the team of mixologists. To guarantee a table at The Warehouse Bar & Kitchen, making a reservation in advance is advised.
Situated inside a historic building on Chapel Street North in the town centre, originally used as a Sunday school, The Warehouse Bar & Kitchen has been tastefully restored, still retaining some of the building’s original features like the church pews, repurposed for dining. With its stylish yet laidback vibe, this family-run bar and steakhouse is the ideal Colchester setting for a number of different occasions, equally as popular for some coffee and cake in the morning as it is for a spot of lunch, dinner or some cocktails in the evening. From juicy steaks and grills to sharing platters, main courses and plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, the menu at The Warehouse Bar & Kitchen offers something for everyone.
Start off with some soft-shell crab with citrus mayo and a sweet chilli sauce or some chunky tomato and basil soup before chowing down on a succulent steak, the beef and ‘trendy’ ale pie or the pan-fried cod served with roasted peppers, tomatoes, crushed new potatoes and caper butter. From the stuffed eggplant steak to the chickpea, sweet potato, spinach and coconut curry, and the portobello mushroom and halloumi burger, the vegetarian and vegan options extend way beyond the usual mushroom risotto, making it a favourite among the town’s vegan and veggie crowd, and an ideal choice for when dining as a big group. After your meal, head through to the bar area and sink back some cocktails like the Smokey Bramble, a dark rum-infused drink with scotch whisky, brown sugar and cherry brandy, served with fresh lemon. Whether its for dinner or drinks, The Warehouse Bar & Kitchen is one of Colchester town centre’s most frequented haunts, so book ahead to be sure of snagging a table!

Good food, great service, really friendly. What a pity you insist on 25 words before I can post my review, now I just have to
Friendly and nice place. Would love to go back again. Food was nice and the waiters were so lovely and smilely. Love this place. Recomended x
The head chef was on point and acting as the floor manger he was awesome making us feel at home and very very welcome. The food was amazing and lots of it, so much they even gave us a doggie bag to take some home for our huskies. I will be using this venue for work functions and give them the highest recommendation I can. An absolutely fantastic night thank you.
Beautiful food and wonderful service! Really pleassurable experience. Would recommend to anyone...very homely feel to the Warehouse. Very good for all, from vegans to steak lovers!
Service was very slow considering the restaurant was not overly busy, plenty of empty tables. There was a party of about 14 people having a belated Christmas meal, this seemed to be the focus of the staff. I would have thought that having a group, large or small, eating virtually the same meal would not have been an issue, but apparently it was. We arrived at 7.45 and served our meal at 9pm. We also had to ask the whereabouts of drinks that we had ordered, not an ideal situation. We are booked in for Valentines but seriously considering another venue.
From start to end it was fantastic! It is not often you find a prawn coctail on a childrens menu, so my girl was over the moon. The food were amazing and the coctails where the best I had in this town. There were plenty of staff who really took care of us. We loved it!
Food delicious and beautifully prepared and cooked except for the home made tortilla chips which were a bit overdone. We went on vegan night and as I inevitably find in vegan places, there was inadequate protein in the dishes, although imaginative and delicious nonetheless. More salad would have been welcome.
Very nice and cosy place, with friendly atmosphere. What we really liked except our amazing food is music! First, it was not very loud, we still could easily talk, and second we really liked what kind of music they put!!
A nice restaurant and food was pretty good. I've marked as a three as we were first seated beneath four screeching ladies by a draughty entrance door in a very empty restaurant, so asked to move and were kindly assisted. There had been a big party in (21st) and the sick outside the toilet and unfleshed loos kinda took the edge off. Not really their fault. Have the say that they were good guys but we won't be going back.
Food was really nice. Good prices. The bike place was really nice and welcoming. Did not talk to the staff as much as I liked but they seamed to be nice. Would go agen.
