After reading such bad reviews about the white horse at southill including seeing a photo showing leaking toilets we cancelled the reservation. It's a shame as it used to be a really nice place to go to. We went to the Hare and Hounds in Old Warden instead and had a wonderful meal in very nice surroundings with very helpful friendly staff!

The food took almost an hour to arrive and it was some of the worst food my husband and I have ever eaten. The staff did try very hard and were very nice, but it doesn't make up for the food unfortunately.

Got to the restaurant and they had no idea we were coming despite all the confirmation emails. They had recently changed hands and the previous owner had not passed on the information. However the new owners were great and found a very nice table for us. The food was great and also a good range of beers. Nice atmosphere, will be back soon.

This is a welcoming, relaxed and friendly pub restaurant, where the staff go out of their way to give great service. The peaceful garden and patio area is a lovely place to eat too and the food and drinks are great value for money. Will definitely go back!

A lovely welcome and tasty food. We had a slight problem with a dessert but this was rectified quickly with no hassles... We have previously been to this pub on a Sunday and the roast was delicious.. We will definately be back..

I had a small bowl of mint salad which i felt was overpriced. Apart from that the main meals, although at first seemed pricey, were good value for the portions we received. Nice pub. Friendly staff and good service

We dined at the White Horse in Southill using a Groupon voucher. The food was disappointing to say the least, poor quality, poor presentation. The standard was below that of a Wetherspoons or Hungry Horse pub. They cannot compete with The Black Horse in Ireland or the Hare & Hounds in Old Warden, two nearby gastro pubs. If they are using Groupon to generate more custom they are sorely mistaken. They won't get repeat custom serving food of this poor standard, even using the half price voucher it wasn't value for money. Inexperienced staff, with little customer service training and a rude barman completed our evening. We won't be returning and we won't be recommending to family and friends. A note to the manager, get your act together or you'll be out of business in no time!

They were very nice and helpful and the food was nice. There were quite a few things off the menu though which is why I haven't give them a 6.

DONT EAT HERE I took my wife for her birthday, the first time we had been and the last. The service was poor the meal served cold and when challenged they brought the same back on a red hot plate, the meal and steak was then dried up !! I informed the owner who wasn't interested at first but did eventually remake the meal. I was still charged the full amount. The Owner is arrogant and unhelpful, we weren't the only ones to complain about the meals, the quality of the steak was very poor unacceptable for £16 + £3 for a peppercorn sauce. Would never return spoilt the birthday surprise meal !!!!

We have been meeting at this pub for several years, it was good but in the last few months it seeems to be running down. They don't all the food on the menue blaming the suppliers. The food is of poor value and the sweets are very pricey £5 plus.

Really nice staff, but the food was awful it was all frozen and taste of water we used to visit a few summers ago and the food was amazing but it's really gone down hill. It's seriously over priced and poor quality. Won't be returning

We hadn't eaten at the White Horse for a while and found that it seemed to have lost its sparkle. It wasn't something you could put your finger on. The ambience was ok, if a bit dated. The staff were attentive. The food was nice. It seemed very quiet, compared to our previous visits. Hubby and I agreed we would go there for a drink in the summer, but wouldn't go out of our way to eat there again.

First time visitors and immediately looked after and shown to table and provided with baby high chair. Explained that no rush for food and order when settled. As with baby, ordered 20 minutes later and although initially 'Sunday Roast' was all gone (time was 16:30 so understood) we were offered alternatives. Turned out roast was on but last few so choose them. Fantastic meals, child meal was given free and then presented with 15% discount on next visit. All for doing nothing but enjoying a great meal out. Highly recommend but pre-book for Sunday lunch! Definitely going again, well done!

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Good food served with a smile. Glutten free option on starter menu limited to just one item, mint salad - a disappointing 'range' to choose from. Otherwise a lovely evening all round.

Although they tried to put things right by giving free deserts and a pot plant we would not go back. The manager was very helpful and friendly but they had run out of steam and food from mothers day lunch. Cold food. Rushed food. Very disappointing

Lovely little English pub/restaurant. Tables set out in a spacious way, decor very pleasant, low lighting with fireplaces and beans. Great service. Food was served promptly and hot. waitress service was very attentive during my visit. Will be returning again soon :)

We had an enjoyable meal, though we actually booked for a carvery and it was off the menu for some reason. However, the chef was still able to produce a lovely roast dinner for us. The manager was very attentive with a great sense of humour though the service was a little slow. Overall, a very enjoyable afternoon

A lot of effort was made with sweet little touches on valentines day but the service was not very polished (I was asked if I wanted to take the top off my own Proseco) although everyone was really friendly and helpful. It was quite cold although they have a beautiful fire place that they could have transformed the place with if they had lit the fire Susan

We received a group on voucher for Christmas for a two course steak meal with a glass of wine and we're looking forward to using it at the White horse. Upon arrival the pub had a cosy feel and we were greeted by a friendly member of staff. From then on the member of staff seemed quite erratic coming to and from our table on several occasions often forgetting what he had come for in the first place! The food was fairly average, however both mine and my husbands steak was cooked to how we had ordered it. The glass of wine that we had (a Rioja) was not good despite opting for the non house wine. And finally upon us paying for our meal we had to explain our group on voucher to the member of staff. Would we visit again? Probably not.

beautifully set out room , excellent service and excellent food. The finishing touches of bucks fizz on arrival, a valentines teddy bear on the table for the female and a fresh red rose on departure made the evening very special, Have been before and always rated this restaurant but this experience was very special.

Went to white horse with friends! We have been to this pub before and have never had a bad experience! Food and service was very good! The only negative is that the desserts for what they are are very over priced.
