The Woolpack

Even if you don’t already know The Woolpack in Esholt, you probably already know The Woolpack in Esholt. This picturesque pub, between Shipley and Guiseley outside Bradford on Esholt’s Main Street, features in the TV series Emmerdale, and it is reportedly the only soap opera set in the country where you can stroll in and sit down for a drink and a meal. Still, The Woolpack is no novelty, it’s a proper British pub, meaning it boasts not just great photo opportunities but a long bar with a fabulous selection of fine cask ales, and a superb menu of heart-warming meals and snacks. From British pub classics like steak and ale pie, battered haddock with mushy peas and giant Yorkshire puddings, to a spread of satisfying sandwiches, great vegetarian options (it’s hard to pass up the roasted sweet potato stuffed with chargrilled aubergine, courgette, red pepper topped with buffalo mozzarella and salad leaves), classy a la carte evening meals and decadent desserts.
