We arrived just after 6.15pm and were the only diners at that time. Taken quickly to a table and offered a menu. A menu radically different from that on Tripadvisor (which as of 8th April is still the menu accessible on Tripadvisor). The new menu had none of the French dishes, and consists mainly of various meats with fries. We ordered, and had to wait more than 30 minutes for our starter, which, given that we were the only diners, was appallingly slow. Two of us chose lamb (I wanted duck but they had none) and one chicken. They arrived, after not such a long wait, but were disappointing. A smallish piece of lamb rump, or a single chicken breast, with less than 20 fries, and some salad garnish or vegetables. The fries were far too small for triple cooking, so were burnt. No sauce of any kind, so also dry. This for main course prices in the £17 to £20 range so very poor value for money. We complained, and all credit to the chef for coming up to hear our feedback. They reduced our bill by 25%, which was a kind gesture, but we would have much preferred to arrive to find the only menu that was available on line, not to have had to wait for so long, and for main courses that were of either significantly better quality, or significantly lower prices.

Shame most of the menu items were unavailable, they tried their best and the service was great but the food let them down, and having no phones for 3 weeks trying to contact them is unacceptable for any business 🙁

Staff need more training, ie would you like another drink, is your meal alright etc. Waiting time for main not good considering only 7 people in, had a main of brisket beef which was a bit dry and too large a portion, couldn’t tell what the veg with the mash was as it tasted the same, views to the kitchen, washing area and bin not good. In between serving staff look like hanging around. Nice place (gents washbasin are needs paint touch up) hope it succeeds but needs a more professional approach before I try again.
