No matter how long you search Fareham for, you’re unlikely to find a restaurant as charming and as quaint as Truffles Restaurant. It’s on High Street in the very heart of town, and the husband and wife team behind the wheel are nothing but passionate. Recently refurbished and reopened, Truffles is now a gorgeous, sophisticated yet casual place to sit and enjoy some modern European cooking. There are rotating daily menus, but if dining from the a la carte, start your meal with some spiced parsnip soup or a warm salad of root vegetables, stilton and candied walnuts. For your main, consider roast pheasant ballotine, pan fried sea bass fillet or pork wrapped in prosciutto. Finish with a classic panna cotta or some curious Jamaican ginger cake, and you’ll soon see why Fareham loves Truffles Restaurant.
Another excellent five -course themed menu evening with an inventive range of chicken and egg dishes, ranging from a super roast chicken consommé with Asian mushrooms to start, through to a highly seasonal main course of poached chicken breast, panko egg, asparagus soldiers, hollandaise sauce and jersey royals, and a knockout dessert of Custard tart with raspberry sorbet. As ever, service was attentive and efficient.
A fantastic little restaurant that you would think is a old tea room. But don't be put off, the food and the service is second to none. The menu is changed regularly and there is always something new and tasty to try, especially the deserts for me. My personal favourite a Guiness and chocolate cake "delicious".
Food was excellent - perfect combination of flavour and not too fussy. Service also superb. Will definitely visit again. Prices also very reasonable for the quality.
I had a very good experience at Truffles Restaurant in Fareham. The food was fresh and creative, and the service was very attentive and efficient. I warmly recommend this place.
We visited during the first of Truffles Restaurant monthly events. The special 4 course menu based on the theme of a celebration of summer had a series of exquisite dishes with a wonderful mix of flavours. All in all a memorable evening and one not to be missed. Future such events will be held on the first Thursday of every month and should not be missed.
Very pleasant evening spent at Truffles. My partner and I were the only ones in the restaurant the whole time we were there so a bit of a shame that more people aren't coming here as it is a great restaurant, but lucky that we had the whole place to ourselves! Being the only customers the service was very attentive with the waitress/proprietor(?) checking at all the right times if everything was OK and generally very friendly and accommodating. The food was top notch and for the price, very good quality. I like how the 2-3 course menu is seasonal and thus changes regularly (a menu with a multitude of choices makes me suspicious); overall a very good restaurant - service, food and ambiance all great, the only slight negative is there is an odd smell when you first enter the restaurant but you soon don't notice it.
Service was very good, and in general the food was excellent. Our party of three included two vegetarians and the menu did offer a vegetarian choice. I did request (in advance) that a second vegetarian option be offered & the response was that if the two vegetarians wanted something else then for us to phone then & discuss it. However, both felt this put them on an obligation to have the 'new' vegetarian meal, even if 'on the night' that ws not their preference. As it happened one really enjoyed the whereas the other only to an extent. We appreciate that it's very difficult to cater for all different types of people but as being a vegetarian is being less of an 'oddball' activity perhaps more than one vegetarian option should become a 'matter of practice'.
Another hugely enjoyable monthly themed menu - 'Spring has Sprung', comprising watercress cappuccino; goat’s cheese double baked soufflé, roasted beetroot, mint vinaigrette; crab and chargrilled purple sprouting broccoli salad with chilli and lime dressing; roast Lamb rump, champ cake, spring greens, glazed carrots, agrodolce; rhubarb posset, poached rhubarb, Jamaican ginger crumb, gingerbread sorbet. Quality of cooking and service was excellent, and the new wine list and new 'Wines of the Month' offered some interesting possibilities for matching.
The food is excellent - duck satay, mushroom & mussel risotto, marlin, pork belly and pulled lamb. The food is very well priced and the staff are nicely attentive. It is obvious the owners really care about what they do. The husband and wife team deserve to have a very successful restaurant. We shall certainly be returning and recommending to friends and family.
Super lunch with friends - we all had Halibut Scampi to start, Griddled Marlin Loin, and Hampshire Pork Chop for mains, followed by Chargrilled Pineapple, chilli and lime syrup, coconut sorbet , all from the set lunch menu - terrific value at 1 Course for £9.95, 2 Courses for £13.95, or 3 Courses for £15.95. Relaxed atmosphere with friendly and efficient service.
