One of Ulverston’s best kept secrets, Virgina House is a stunning Victorian townhouse boasting a fine dining restaurant and gin parlour. Its elegant surrounds and menu of contemporary British cuisine attracts diners from all over the Lake District as well as guests staying in Virginia House’s rooms. Start your meal off with some wood pigeon with charred leeks, leek ash, truffle jus, sweet cicely and candied walnuts, before moving on to some rabbit stew, west coast cod or butter roasted brill with spring onions, oyster mushrooms, crisp galette, lemon, thyme and black truffle tea. For a special evening out in Ulverston, head over to Virginia House on Queen Street in the town centre. Booking a table in advance is advised!
Excellent food and service, in a comfortable environment. Would really recommend Aunty Helen's Lamb - absolutely superb. I liked the nice little touches such as the "amuse-bouche".
