About Viva La Mexicana

To experience the vibrant flavours and culture of Mexico in Bristol, simply book a table at Viva La Mexicana on East Street. At this charming Totterdown cantina you’ll instantly feel at home with its colourful decor, casual ambience and personable hospitality. Before you get tucked into your main, get your taste buds geared up by going for some bolillos (Frankfurter-style sausages in a wheat and egg wrap served with a cheese dip) or some nachos smothered in a cheese sauce with beans and jalapeno peppers). From street food favourites like the pellizcada (two corn bases covered with beans, pulled chicken, mild green salsa and grated cheese) to traditional mains like the pozole (a traditional Mexican broth with corn granules, prepared with lashings of pulled chicken, spices, and lime and accompanied with toasted corn pieces, avocado, radish, onion and lettuce), Viva La Mexicana’s menu provides diners with a real taste of Mexico. My wife and I came for a meal on a Saturday evening. The food was delicious with plenty of vegetarian options, refreshingly unlike the usual Mexican restaurants in the UK like Chiquitos. The Mexican wine was very nice, the service was friendly and efficient and the restaurant was nicely decorated without being over the top. We'll be back for sure :-)

great food, funky environment, try chocolate savoury main course. House red very good. £45 for two with half litre red wine and share dips for starter.

The meal was authentic and was a good portion. It tasted good with corn base, pulled pork with beans and grated cheese. I will consider going again.
