Zen Oriental

Starter - Big prawns cooked in shells with freah chilli. Tender pork on bed of tasty beansprouts. Large portions of tasty food. Great service as always. Bottle of decent prosecco £25. Fabulous contemporary Chinese meal in modern surroundings, playing good music. What's not to like?!

Excellent food and service. The menu has a great variety on it and chicken and Sweetcorn Soup tasty. A good wine list too. Great Chinese.

Good atmosphere, great service and lovely food!! Had the steamed monkfish and the seafood supreme and they were delicious! Portions are not huge, but just enough. Definitely coming back!

Menu was not too large but food was excellent. Better to do a little well than a lot bad. Good wine selection. Staff attentive & friendly. Will be returning.

Visited Zen with our children and had a lovely experience. Food was lovely and enjoyed by all, service was attentive without being fussy and ambience was ideal.

My food was tasteless and my partner was sick in the middle of the night. I will not be in much of a hurry to go back.

Staff were very attentive but not intrusive in any way and food was excellent, I would recommend this restaurant to all my family and friends without hesitation

We dined at Zen on Friday 30thMarch and the overall experience was excellent. Food, staff, table situation and ambience of the restaurant in our opinion is the best we have experienced for many years. We dine out every week and we will certainly be back soon. Regards Alice & George Jennings

We found that the staff were very offhand and the quality of the food was not to our liking. We were really looking forward to dining there but we're left disappointed.

Very pleasant night out . Friendly and attentive staff. Food was excellent. Slight misunderstanding about our order but sorted fairly quickly. Good selection of wine.

Last evening was my first visit to Zen and it was a delightful experience. The food was excellent, the staff were courteous and friendly and the atmosphere was perfect.

Nice surroundings, good food and friendly staff. What more can you ask for. Only one thing lets it down, the coffee. I asked for a cuppcchino and it was like instant with chocolate sprinkles on top. It’s not hard to get decent coffee.

The surroundings were comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. The food was very good but the only thing that prevented me from giving five was the coffee. I asked for a capacchino. What was served was like a cup of instant with some chocolate sprinkled on the top. Pretty tasteless.

party of 6 for New Years Eve dinner. we arrived early but had a drink at the bar followed by the sharing feast. can't fault it !.

Nice place friendly staff but meals were average . Had duck and various dishes as there was 7 of us if the food was great it would be a great little resteraunt .

Excellent freshly cooked meal. Service attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant is a bit out of the way but well with the short walk along BonAccord Crescent.

The starter was very salty for my liking. But starter was replaced with more expensive one. This was less salty. I was charged for the cheaper option. Maybe the chef had a bad day. Service was very good

The zen is a great restaurant. The food is always lovely, the staff are very attentive and it's a very nice establishment. Would highly recommend going to this restaurant.

Our sons took us to Zen for our Anniversary meal! The food was excellent as was the service. We will definitely be going back soon, we all really enjoyed it!

The food at Zen oriental was absolutely fantastic. .y sweet and sour chicken was fresh and light. The service was excellent with a waiter always on hand to give a top up. Will definitely be coming back.

Booked 2 weeks in advance to be turned away to the door due to private function. A call or email would have been appreciated. The staff didn't seem to care much either.

Second visit within four months, first visit was faultless, this time the service was very poor. Did improve as it got less busy, no prawn crackers on arrival this time.

Lovely restaurant and liked the layout. Food was served at perfect times by very friendly staff. Food really tasty and well presented. I will definitely be returning.

Enjoyed our visit to Zen. Starter platter was excellent and service was also excellent. Only minor criticism was that the Special Curry sauce was a little bit watery compared to my previous visits and lacked a bit of spice.

Had a lovely meal with my family for my birthday, staff were lovely and only 1 spill down my new cardigan and she didn't even realise she had done it 🙈 Otherwise all ok.

Service excellent. Food so so, depending what you had. I had Po Kung Chicken. I could tell chicken had been reheated and was not fresh. Perhaps it's because we went on Sunday evening and was not busy

Nothing to fault with restaurant, the food was very good, as was the service and the atmosphere. All in all very good value - but no one gets 100 %. Well done.

The food is very tasty, good menu choices. The sharing platter for a starter was good. Restaurant has a good atmosphere, staff are attentative. Will be returning.

Tasteless and underwhelming. As already reviewed on Tripadvisor: Restaurant environment nice enough and much fancier than say the Manchurian (also in Aberdeen). One of the 3 starters we ordered was crispy seaweed and that was the only dish that had any real taste (purely because of the salt levels). Everything after that was bland and totally uninspiring. Whilst the tastelessness applied to all dishes other than the seaweed, I would also comment on specific dishes that - spare rib starter was mainly fat and precious little meat (or indeed bone); shredded crispy duck was not shredded at the table as it is everywhere else that I can think of; fillet steak canton was not served on a sizzling platter and with cooking finished off when it is served, again as with everywhere else I've had it. In short, it would have been much better, cheaper and tastier to get a takeaway from WokWok. As for service, it too was uninspiring and unengaging. After the order was taken, we were never asked was the food ok or did we want more drinks. The only question we were asked was whether we would like to leave a tip. My answer reflected the experience we had. Definitely not going back and definitely would not recommend.

First class all the way staff very helpful, choice of food fantastic and when it came there was no disappointment. Would recommend Zen to all food lovers
