the food and atmosphere were really good. we had the lamb shank and monk fish. the lamb shank was out of this would and the monk fish was just ok.

Reliably great service and food. You always seem to be served as efficiently when the place is full as when it is quiet, which isn't often, because word gets about.

8848 delivered both excellent food and excellent service, great location in centre of the town and a well fitted out restaurant. for sure will be back

The service is great. The "Everest" lager is a perfect accompaniment. I was left alone to eat my food and read my book. I wasn't pestered every 5 minutes with "Is everything all right?". The food is very tasty. It is colourful, and the servers only want to make sure you are happy. You look at what other tables are being served with and you wish it was your own service. The other tables will be looking at yours in the same way!

Excellent service, a very friendly atmosphere and the food was top quality. We arrived early for the table we had booked and the staff were happy to accommodate us.

Friendly and prompt service; lovely selection of pickles and chutneys; very tasty pakoras; garlic naan bread to die for and monkfish in the tastiest of sauces. Shank of lamb with vegetables was hugely tasty but lacking the heat suggested in the menu. This is a minor complaint because it was extremely flavourful with herbs and spices it just could have been hotter for our taste-buds. The restaurant ambience was very relaxing with good music and soft lighting. All in all a very enjoyable evening.

This is a very pleasant restaurant with an excellent cuisine. The staff was polite, kind and helpful. We were first time guests yesterday evening, but surely we will return.

Had a reservation and we got given a table right at the back away from all the other customers for some reason! We were casually dressed so perhaps that was why. Service and food good. Staff lovely but it took ages to pay despite having a debit card to pay on display on the table for a long while. I had to ask to pay. Hardly any chicken in my main - it was mostly sauce and hardly any meat at all. I can't usually finish a curry in an Indian restaurant but this time I was not even filled up!

Excellent. Service was very friendly and attentive but not intrusive. And made to feel welcome the moment we arrived. Food was of a very high standard. Excellent in fact. The staff were able to advise on quantities of sides etc really accurately for the number of guests. The restaurant overall is really well laid out to allow all tables privacy and was bustling with all tables full on the ground floor and upstairs looking pretty busy. If you're looking for modern Indian food in an elegant atmosphere then would definitely recommend it. lWill definitely return.

This is my third visit here. I am always impressed by the food and quality of service . Shynol and Anna in particularly were superb. The most difficult part of dining at 8848 is trying to choose which main course to have- and not ordering too many of the delicious starters.

We went with the set meal for 8 people and the food was all really excellent. We had pre-pre starters, pre-starters then starters, WOW! The service and staff are awesome. Will definitely be back again.

Excellent meal. The set menu with table buffet was a great idea as we could ask for more if need be, and we did. A few at our table did not like fish so we ordered more chicken.

Fantastic night, service was exceptional but not to in your face, food was as always excellent and the little part of theatre was welcomed. All the party enjoyed and we will certainly be back. Well done

Great food, good service. Only drawback was our table location felt a bit like the people at the next table were warching our every move and we could certainly hear every word of their conversation.
