A Room In The West End

Good bistro food and very pleasant staff. Gets busy at weekends do booking advisable. Some noise from upstairs pub but only to be expected on a busy rugby weekend.

Food delicious. We had an small private alcove (for 2) which was great as a big party in so would have been quite noisy if in the main restaurant area. Great service too.

Excellent lunch; perfect portions, taste and service. Great value too. Will definitely be back and will go for the private booth next time. Highly recommend.

a lovely seating arrangement downstairs from Teuchters Pub up above...some little snug alcoves fitted for 'a table for 2' for you candle lit dining lovers. . The menu on the website said from 18 Jan but it was not the menu we had 11 May. Maybe that was 18 Jan 2016 ;-) Its not a wide ranging menu selection but the starters/mains were excellent. 4 of us with 4 separate mains - delicious. Recommend the scallops in a wee risotto mix. Stuffed sea bream was also recommended. BYOB was also good to know corkage wine £4.50 and £5.50 for Fizz Very friendly staff An interesting mural décor too.....go just to identify the celebs and staff on it :-)

Lovely food, good service, pleasant surroundings. What more could you ask for. And byob if you want. Was able to get a booking on a Friday night the week before.

Mains and starters were good, limited dessert menu. When booking wasn't told about time limit for lunch, (they asked for the table back) I would go back and it is byo but the corkage is quite expensive

Food and service were great. We took our own wine and paid corkage and staff were great with chilling it and providing ice buckets! All in all a great night.

I went for the fixed price Sunday lunch menu with my family. There was something on the menu to please everyone and the food was well presented and tasty. The staff were helpful and were happy to adjust one of the dishes to accommodate one of the party's allergies.

Excellent Scottish food, but the restaurant is far too noisy! Someone should do something to reduce the sound. Friendly staff and good service met our expectations.

Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. My wife's chicken was spot on. My expensive steak was tough and would not recommend. Also some of the bread was hard and one of the olives was inedible.

A superb little find...tucked away in the West End, on William Street. The food was excellent, I dont think I have ever had such delicious "Greens" as a side, cooked perfectly. I had a chicken dish which was probably one of the tastiest I have had. The service was excellent, all the staff very friendly, we were not rushed, and the fact that you could BYOB was a bonus, as they do serve wine. The charge for corkage was a mere £1.50. Would definitely recommend and we will certainly be back.....The Sticky Toffee Pudd was ti die for!!

Despite it being Rugby match day, and so as expected very busy, the service and food were great ! would be happy to go back

This was my 4th visit to a room in the west end and it never fails to deliver. From the staff to the quality of food and value for money there is no competition

Great place. Lovely atmosphere. Not one for a quiet meal but food was spot on. We were seated right by tee door which made it a little less of an experience but didn't detract too much.

The staff were great the food was very average....the starter was strange, with a main of haggis neeps and tatts which was fine....was an average experience!!!

The atmosphere was good and the food lovely, went to pay the bill and it was very reasonable - the service was friendly without being in your face - overall a great experience and I would definitely go back!

The young lady who served us was very good and the food was also very nice. We were the only people in the restaurant and we found the place to be very cold.

We were visiting Edinburgh for the first time. I researched possible places to eat as I am bit of a "foodie". A Room in the West End did not disappoint. Delicious food, great service and a fantastic atmosphere. The restaurant was full of happy diners and the bar above was heaving with merry drinkers. A fantastic find!

Another memorable lunch at A Room In The West End, Excellent attentive service from Susan, a good variety of homely dishes available to choose from for each course. All 6 of our group thoroughly enjoyed the tasty and well presented food along with the relaxed ambience. The 3 course set lunch offers excellent value for the quality of the food delivered and the BYOB enables the overall costs to be kept very reasonable.

Loved the restaurant and food choice and presentation was terrific. Unfortunately we were the only guests so lacked atmosphere. Lovely staff and good value will definitely go back.

Food was ok but had much better elsewhere. Think that the problem was they were trying too hard to be fancy, plainer food would have been much better.

Great food in this atmospheric Scottish bistro. Excellent value for money - and it's a byob. Lively pub upstairs serving good range of real ales and whiskies.

Went during the festival and had a relaxed meal with two companions served by excellent waiting staff. Food bursting with flavour. A new firm favourite in the West End of Edinburgh.

We had a very enjoyable meal, with excellent food and great service. I love the atmosphere at a room in the West end and look forward to my next visit.

Food was lovely, but noise level was deafening due to 2 extremely loud large tables of diners. Service was great but evening was spoilt because of the noise - we simply could not hear each other speak so conversation was limited. Marion Bootland

A room in the west is a very cosy place, staff is friendly and helpful and the food delicious! Local food, like Scotch egg with blackpudding, is a real treat and the choice of beer quite interesting. I recommend it
