With a number of locations in London – a testament to their popularity – Abu Zaad is a favourite among foodies with a passion for Middle Eastern cuisine. Located on Edgeware Road, this popular Middle Eastern restaurant attracts swarms of locals every day of the week, and on the menu you’ll find everything from big family-friendly sharing platters to small mezze plates, with a focus on cuisine from Syria. Some of our favourite dishes include the Afghani chicken (chicken with specially cooked rice topped with sultanas, carrot strips, nuts and served with yogurt), the maklouba (a traditional Damascene dish with fried aubergine and minced meat topped with rice and served upside-down) and the veggie-friendly moussaka. To guarantee a table at Abu Zaad, making a reservation in advance is recommended.
We came here for a belated mothers day and early fathers day meal for both mine and my wife's parents. Upon entering the restaurant we were expecting average food at best mostly due to the decor, which in retrospect is more of a Syrian/Moroccan affair and has an authentic look to it. Our minds were quickly changed though as the first orders came through from us ordering all the vegetarian cold and hot mezzes. Their fresh juices were just divine as was the attentive waiter. We were rolling out the door and the final bill for 6 people was MORE than reasonable considering we had so much to eat, as well as dessert and tea! Highly recommend Abu Zaad and will definitely come back again very soon!
Great food ..... to get a 6 you guys need to pay attention to tables and space but fundamentally great value for the money spent
The food was about and the service was poor, even taking into consideration the fact that it Ramadan and everyone wanted to break their fast as soon as possible. Waiter kept bumping into my chair.
