There are more Indian restaurants in London than you can shake a piece of naan bread at, and discerning between them can also be a task. The city offers everything from down-at-home Indian cooking to Bangladeshi cafes and Pakistani tandoori joints, as well as countless variations. Ahmed Tandoori Restaurants brings the best of all of them to their restaurant on The Broadway in Wimbledon, so make sure to book a table now.
Wimbledon Tandoori was an excellent venue with lovely staff and very good food. We always enjoyed this restaurant when it was situated in Wimbledon Broadway and it's certainly even better now that it's in the village.
The food was delicious but service was very slow. In particular it took 45 minutes from arriving for anyone to take our food order and then another 45 for food to arrive.
Ahmeds was fine as usual — always welcoming and excellent service and food. However the table had not been booked. Ahmeds rapidly prepared one for 7 of us. who needs Quandoo?
Indian food is the UK’s favourite when it comes to restaurants, and the diners of London are no different. They love any opportunity test their tastebuds against the best that the subcontinent has to offer, and for those who live in Wimbledon, their local invigilator is Ahmed Tandoori Restaurant on Broadway. Their take on Indian, Bangladeshi and Pakistani cuisine is mindful of the classics, but still manages to offer specialities that are almost impossible to find elsewhere.
Finding some of their specialities may be hard, but finding Ahmed’s couldn’t be easier. They’re on The Broadway, right by London’s Wimbledon station, next to the Centre Court Shopping Centre in the heart of leafy SW19. When you get there, go for a traditional Indian starter – pakoras, tikkas and kebabs abound – before choosing a house special that makes the most of the eponymous tandoor oven: we recommend the whole tandoori trout.
