Few places offer such choice to the Indian food aficionado like the the northwest of England, and often the strength of the region’s cooking is not in the haute cuisine sector, but in the friendly neighbourhood curry house. Such a restaurant is Akash Indian Brasserie in Darwen on the outskirts of Blackburn, where they proudly serve the local community with high-quality Indian dishes from their location on Duckworth Street, while also providing a friendly welcome and a fully-stocked bar with which to wash down your food.
Been going here since 1987, food and service have remained top notch. Superb dining experience. Had the Sunday buffet, absolutely no compromise. Can thoroughly recommend.
Always enjoy eating here, very friendly staff that are attentive and welcoming. The menu has something for everyone and the food is good. They have a takeaway next door too.
Always good food and service when i visit akash resturant or takeaway. I was with family from Gibraltar an they also concured with my assesment of akash.
There are plenty of elements that need to come together to create a superb Indian restaurant. A friendly welcome and a decently-stocked bar are important, of course, as is an easy-to-reach location. Akash Indian Brasserie on Duckworth Street in the centre of Darwen – a short hop from the Darwen train station, and therefore easily accessed from Blackburn and wider Lancashire – has all of these things, as well as the superb selection of Indian dishes that one would expect from a local curry house.
On arriving at an Indian restaurant, the first thing most people need is a cold pint and a plate of poppadoms. Akash Indian Brasserie offers an array of Indian starters to pick from – kebabs, tandoori specialities, pakoras and more – and all the curries that are beloved of the public in Darwen and Blackburn, from creamy passanda and korma dishes to spicy jalfrezi and balti specialities. Book a table at their restaurant on Duckworth Street for a proper Indian feast.
