Probably the greatest balti house in Stapleford, if not Nottingham in its entirety, Akbar Balti raises the hue and cry against substandard Indian restaurants, making its Derby Road premises a rallying point for spice fanatics the region over. Diners come from far and wide to train their tastebuds in the ways of fine South Asian cuisine, with a good pinch of Middle Eastern flavour thrown in the mix for an explosive culinary experience. Upon arrival, you’re strongly advised to try the chef’s specialties. The Akbar chicken is a perfect example of how the restaurant showcases the brotherhood between South and Central Asian and Middle Eastern cuisines, serving chicken marinated in a special herb masala with Persian-style vegetables and a methi sauce. For those who like a bit of pyrotechnics on their plate, we recommend the auspiciously named Hot Meat. Bookings are essential, but nail down a table here and you’re well on your way to foodie heaven.
Very friendly and helpful staff who took time to make recommendations about things like how hot the various curries are. It was touches like that which made the evening.
As always the food and service is fantastic. The staff are always extremely polite and friendly. This is not just on the one occasion - I have eaten here many times and it's always the same. That's why we visit on a regular basis.
