The humble neighbourhood curry house is as much at the heart of the high street as the pub, the postbox and the iconic red phone box. Every community has at least one, and the great British public love nothing more with their Friday night pint than a slice of spice. If you’re on The Wirral, you don’t need any introducing to Akbor’s on Hoylake Road in, well, Hoylake, where they serve up a huge range of specialities from the subcontinent. The tandoor is the star of the show, of course, with kebabs and shashlik dishes as well as breads to mop the sauce, so when you arrive on Hoylake Road, that is the obvious place to start. Follow it up with a house speciality – we’d go for the duck tikka khazana with fresh herbs, onions, peppers and tomatoes – and a few pints and you are well on your way to a great night out on The Wirral. Make sure you book a table ahead of time though, as they are very popular and can get busy.
Lovely place and Great food. Lovely staff and cater well for groups ( including children ) . Would definitely recommend and of course we are regular customers.
Absolutely delicious food with a friendly and efficient service, as always. The salmon tikka starter was divine and I would highly recommend it. This has become a regular place for us to eat out.
The food was excellent. The best curry I have had in a long time. Both my daughters are vegetarian and the staff went out of their way to make vege versions of main courses for them.
