More about the restaurant: Alishaan Cafe
Alishaan is too modest calling itself a mere cafe – dining here is a complete South Asian restaurant experience, with dishes ranging across the subcontinent from northern India and Pakistan down through to the Bengal and Bangladesh. Lunch and dinner here is an exquisite affair, and to feel the full impact of the kitchen’s expertise we recommend beginning with the special Alishaan platter, featuring a selection of the house’s best starters. For a fantastic main course, we’re usually game for the various duck options on offer, but Fulwell locals seem to love (besides UK fave masala) the twice-cooked hariali – marinated and tandoor-barbecued chicken breast cooked again in a green, spicy, creamy curry. Find Alishaan Cafe on Station Road, close to Seaburn station on Sunderland’s Green Line.
