More about Balseros, London

While there are plenty of great Welling eateries, Balseros is a cut above the rest. An offshoot of local tapas favourite Chupitos, Balseros specialises in Cuban and Latin American cuisine. Tapas takes centre stage, but what's on offer here is very different to traditional menus. For instance, you can tuck into ox tail spring rolls or chicken croquettes cooked Brazilian style all while matching them with sweet potato fries, fried plantains or black bean hummus with homemade bread. So if you're a Spanish food lover and want a change of pace, this Welling High Street eatery is going to be the ideal destination in the outskirts of central London.

But it's not all about tapas. The restaurant's Smoked Gun burgers are another major attraction, with delicious pulled pork or veggie-friendly sweet potato fillings. There's also a great spread of mains, from cod and chorizo stews to slow-cooked beef ribs. And after that, you can sample some of the Cuba's famously sweet desserts, including caramel churros or prune and almond tarts. If that isn't enough, it's also a great venue for meeting up with friends in Welling, with a cocktail menu that's crammed with Caribbean classics and a friendly welcome every time you visit.

A Saturday night meal, restaurant was full, and they only had 2 staff members taking orders and serving, they were actually running around, we had to wait 1 hour before we got our starters, some guests left without getting their food. When our food came it was well worth waiting for, totally amazing looking, tasting and truly amazing amount of food, free large glass of wine helped. We praised the waitress for her efforts. Try the platter to share for two. Well worth a visit to this new and up and coming restaurant. Waiting time given was just based on that one night.
