Great experience. No problems with reservations. Servers were great. Enjoyed the food. Had a party of 10. The seating worked out well. Only issue, the noise level is high. Other than that, I love the place.
It was all fab ! Kids menu could be improved with a more ‘traditional’ choice. Adults had no complaints, however !
The food was great, service speedy and the beer superb
Had tastecard. Cannot fault it. Great food, very friendly service. They forgot to apply the discount on the card but rectified straight away. Will go back
Have enjoyed meals and the beers at Belgo-Centraal many times over the years and the food and whole experience has always been exceptional. However I was surprised on this visit that they now have television screens on in the dining room which seems completely unnecessary and distracting from the overall experience, to be honest I would much rather they weren't there. The service was also slower than we've ever had before, although our waitress was good at chasing things up. The bubble waffle desserts, although amazing had to be chased and were quite cool once served. I still enjoyed our visit immensely, and would go again and again, even more so if the tv screens were removed!
We truly loved grilled prawns for starter, and mussels in traditional and manière sauce. And I then finished the delicious meal with beautiful doughnuts following by camomile tea. That's a perfect lunch. The food always reaches out expectations. I don't mind going back to Belgo Centraal at anytime.
This restaurant is a huge, cavernous underground space bench style seating. Some of the servers wear monk robes as a nod to the trappist beers they sell. The Belgian food menu specialises in mussles, but also offers a variety of meat based and vegetarian options. Food is reasonably priced, with large sized portions, and tasted very good. Service was mostly attentive, but got a little more lax towards later evening. Still, all staff were very friendly and engaged. I'm only deducting points for the loud music and uncomfortable seating, leading to a less welcoming atmosphere. Other than that, it's a great central spot for yummy food and a huge selection of Trappist beers.
We chose calamari and grilled prawns last Monday. They were delicious. Mussels + frites were absolutely scrumptious. And bubble waffles with strawberry and tiramisu ice cream completed our lunch with great satisfaction. Lucas, our waiter from Vicenza kindly arranged a beautiful decoration with a candle on the waffles to surprise me because of my birthday. What a memorable lunch! Thank you so much for making my day. We will be back tomorrow at 1pm.
I have been going to Belgos for about 20 years now. It does not have quite the impact that it had all those years ago but it is still quirky and terrific value. Shame the monks have all gone now! The menu has changed (got more choices) too. I think it is a great place, but the noise level makes conversations very difficult. Also, the toilets - which were highly innovative - really need to be brought up to standard
Awesome food and atmosphere as always from this venue, staff are great and friendly but pleeeeeeease for the love of god, sort your air con out, everyone and I mean everyone was suffering for how hot it was, it was very nearly unbearable to the point that we will probably use the other Belgos in future, which is a shame because other than that this place is awesome! Side note: can we have the mango beers back please 😉
