About Bengal Brasserie - Wetherby
There are plenty of places to pick up a curry in the UK – in fact, the humble Indian restaurant is about as popular as they come in the hearts of the majority of British punters – and if you’re in Yorkshire, then you’re close to some of the finest in the country. Wetherby might be a little away from the hubs of Bradford and Leeds, but the standard at Bengal Brasserie is as good as any around, with a stylish location on the banks of the River Wharfe, a licensed bar and an Indian and Bengali menu that includes both traditional dishes and regional delicacies. You can try tandoori dishes like lamb tikka and seekh kebabs, classic curries from mild kormas through medium dishes like rogan josh and all the way up to a fiery vindaloo. We’d go for the house signatures though, from the special Naga chilli chicken – with Bengali chillies – to the lamb kushbuder, in a spicy sauce with cardamom, garlic, cinnamon and bay leaves. We had a lovely enjoyable evening with friends. Nice welcome friendly service and liked the complimentary drinks at the end of our meal. Thank you
Varied menu options and can adapt to suit your own preferences , lovely food all round with helpful and attentive staff , comfortable seating and we sat near the window area which was open and refreshing on a hot summers day, would recommend this restaurant
Delicious food, attentive staff. Seemed to have rather demanding customers at the next table, and every whim was catered to without the slightest bit of attitude. Excellent example of proper customer service. Anf the food really was exceptional. Will be returning for sure.
Our first visit but definitely not our last. The food was lovely, there was a relaxed but lively atmosphere and the attentive staff looked after us well
Our tables were ready as soon as we arrived which was a very busy Saturday evening. Probably because the restaurant was completely filled with not a spare seat the service was not great bordering on just about OK. Again, probably because it was so busy, one of our two tables was taken away prior to our meal leaving five of us to share a small square table - not great. The food was again OK - a bit bland as though it had been pre-prepared and just heated up - not great but OK. Finally after requesting our bill a number of times, we had to almost walk out of the restaurant in order to get it, waiting until it was hastily prepared. Overall experience not great. We have been coming to this restaurant since it opened and our view is that overall it has steadily deteriorated over that time. Will we go back - probably not. The area is full of other restaurants to try out.
This was our first visit. We were welcomed warmly and our table was ready. A minor criticism is we were seated at a table with lots of customer and waiter traffic and it was a little dark. The service was good - we had a drink within a world record time of 2 minutes (impressive). The dishes arrived with a gap in between rather than all together and the main dishes were warm rather than hot but other than that the food was excellent. We were offered a complimentary drink when paying the bill which was a nice touch. On leaving the door was opened for us and we were thanked for our custom. We will go again.
A great restaurant with a very friendly team to meet your requirements. It was no trouble to them to amend any of the dishes to suit individual tastes. This menu is really quite extensive and very sensibly priced. Service from the waiting staff was excellent. We genuinely felt well looked after and deserving of a generous "tip" It deserves to be regarded as one of the best eating places in Wetherby,
As it was my wife's birthday and i was booking through Quandoo, i sent special instructions to ask if they could provide a small birthday cake with a candle. I called them after 5pm (when they opened) to confirm they had this message - the person I spoke to wasn't aware of it but said they could do it. Anticipating the cake to be presented, it never arrived. Great meal as always but this was a huge disappointment. What's the point in have a special instructions box if they aren't aware of messages in it!!
First time booking with Quando, but it was quick & hassle free. The restaurant was very very busy, we were shown straight to our table. The service was excellent as was the food. We will definitely book again. The only down side to the restaurant is the noise, there is nothing to absorb it! My ears were ringing by the time we left!
First time here. Four of us dined having booked a table for 9.15 on a very busy Saturday night. We were not seated until 35 minutes later but enjoyed a drink at the bar. Once seated food steadily came over an our and a half and it was excellent in every regard. Staff pleasant but a bit stressed. We will definitely return but hopefully on a quieter night.
have been to this restaurant 4or5 times in the past and it has always been spot-on. on this occasion the food was well under parr, the startes were fine but the main course was awful.the naan were like burnt toast and the butter chicken was watery with scraggy dark chicken meat including pieces of grissle(not nice.) the finishing touch was when they brought the bill i was just looking at it when without a word just grabbed it back off the table and reappeared 5mins later with an altered amount. i was very disappointed on this visit and hope it was a one-off glitch as 2 strikes and out.
Had a very enjoyable evening at The Bengal Brasserie; lovely decor, attentive & very polite staff & delicious food. Inspite of a packed restaurant, the waiting staff were very helpful & jovial & helped to enhance our very pleasant dining experience. A very appropriate place to eat after just seeing the hugely poignant movie, Lion.
Waiters seemed a bit disorganised at first but in the end were very good. The starter was excellent the main course seemed to lack flavour Chiken Korai but tasted fresh. The saff were very nice, sweet and coffee were nice, complimentary drink was a nice gesture. Will try again with a different dish next time.
Have been here a few times now and it always seems that there is a problem getting you seated at the time you have booked. This time we had to wait, had to request a drink whilst waiting, not offered. To make matters worse when we eventually got seated we were not given menus and after waiting some time we had to ask for them. Drinks did not arrive and had to be asked for few times. Shame really as the food is good but spoilt by poor service.
The restaurant ambience was excellent, the waiter service first-rate and the meals were some of the best we have ever had in respect of quality and quantity. All in all a restaurant to be highly recommended. We will return very soon. JPM
It was very busy being Good Friday. However, we were shown to our table immediately and served without any delay. The food was excellent and when we had finished we were given a complimentary drink at the bar. Altogether, really enjoyable experience.
On arrival very good, shown to table.Felt a bit rushed from then on.I ordered boiled rice which was lumpy, i should have sent it back but food overall very good.On leaving nobody thank us for our custom it was very busy but a thank you would have been nice.
Good food and lovely staff. One of the best lamb tikka massalas I've had and my husband's jalfrezi was great. We like Bengal Brasserie better than any Indian restaurant in Harrogate where we live. It's worth the drive to Wetherby
We have been using the Bengal fairly regularly since it opened in Wetherby and have never been disappointed. The quality of the varied food dishes on offer is always good and represents good value The staff are always very pleasant.
Booked on line for 20.30 got table upstairs for overflow at 21.00 just standing in foyer with other guests a nightmare they must have overbooked it's the first time this has happened at this resturant the food was fine but not cheap been out all day in Leeds so it was a bit late to find somewhere rise to eat it has put us off as we had friends with us so this time they failed to impress.
Went for my Birthday as Wetherby is a half way point for some of us. Restaurant was very busy so obviously it is very popular. The meal was excellent and there was plenty for each portion. Reasonably priced.
Delicious meal with good service. The dishes we had were all so finely spiced that you could appreciate the individual flavours. Lively atmosphere if a little noisy. The only downside is the cramped area at the entrance and bar while waiting for our table.
I love this restaurant. The food is always high quality and service is unobtrusive and friendly. The staff remembered us even though we hadn't been for ages - its these little things that make a difference.
Great food and great service. Consistent and welcoming hosts. This place is always busy and never disappoints. Highly recommend. Extensive menu. Only negative is small bar area but service is slick so quickly seated at table.
Excellent atmosphere. Really good service. We had the whole meal, 3 courses in about an hour. Good when you've got small children but maybe some people would prefer to linger a bit more slowly.
Food at Bengal is always fantastic ,full of flavour and plenty of variety. The staff are just as good always very welcoming and very accommodating ,enough break given between courses ,smiling and polite.
The food and service were excellent, as usual. One of my favourite places for a "special" meal in Wetherby. The staff are efficient and friendly, and the range of food choices is excellent.
After waiting 15 minutes for our table that had been booked the waiters were very attentive and the first course came quickly and it was lovely. Overall the food was very tasty and we enjoyed our experience !!!
It was a very busy night and as a result the service suffered. We were a table of 3 and it would have been nice if just one of our courses could have arrived at the table at the same time. The food was as always good.
Good service good food Always treated well by staff and always excellent service We enjoy the atmosphere and attention given we always order too much but staff pack up for home
Lovely place lovely food great service.highly recommend even though it was very busy on our arrival we were attended to very promptly we were served drinks and were seated almost immediately.
Our first visit last night was not a disappointment My husband had read a review in a magazine Friendly greeting by the staff Nice surroundings Lovely food Will definitely return soon
Very friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious and could not fault the service. Very well priced for what you paid for. Would definitely recommend and will be going back soon!
Attentive staff and fab food. My first time there but will definitely return. The whole experience was better than at that other well known Restaurant chain in the same field
Perfect, great food, great staff, great atmosphere. Always made to feel welcome. Food always of good standard. Had a choking incident and staff couldn't have done anymore to help me
We were welcomed when we arrived and had very attentive service throughout the meal which was excellent. My daughter said it was the best Indian meal she had ever had
Good food and attentive staff. A little on the expensive side but worth it overall. A wider selection of beers wouldn't have gone amiss. Would easily recommend to friends and would be happy to return.
Almost always good food. Very busy last night but the standard did not drop. Pickle tray excellent, starters very tasty, main courses all plates clean. My favourite Modhu Chicken, a fruity curry, was top quality.
As usual the food, staff, service and atmosphere were high standard. Just the right amount of interaction with staff without it being obtrusive. The staff always work hard and do their best for each customer
Excellent food and waiters . Waiter even made a sauce for me to try something a bit spicier. We will defo be returning here. They do take away too
Absolutely fantastic! Everyone had a brilliant evening. Thank you to all the team at Bengal Brasserie. Everyone of our party has said that they would definitely go back. Alyson.
Despite being extremely busy on New Year's Eve, we had a great meal accompanied by very good service. We shall certainly return in the not too distant future.
CRACKING EVENING, NOT PUSHY AND VERY POLITE. FOOD WAS SUPER BUT WHY CORIANDER ON TOP. WILL BE GOING BACK. WE TOOK FRIENDS FROM LEEDS AND THEY ENJOYED IT.
Excellent food, freshly cooked and friendly attentive staff. Some of the dishes are among the best I have tasted. A gem of a restaurant. Our regular in Wetherby.
fantastic meal great service pleasant staff and to top it all complimentary drink will definitely visit again prices were very reasonable and a good selection of decent wine
Great authentic food and absolutely fantastic service! Made to feel welcome from the moment we came through the door to the moment we left. Cannot recommend enough.
What a great evening, fab food, fab staff and fab service. What more can you ask for?! First visit to the Wetherby restaurant and will definately return.
Great food, as usual with friendly and efficient service. The ladies in our party were given a small present on leaving - a nice touch for Christmas.
The food is excellent food and service first class. It is very popular restaurant and recommend booking a table on Friday & Saturday night to avoid disappoiontment.
My family had a wonderful meal, everything was really fresh and the staff were very attentive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to any curry lovers.
