Sharing food is one of life’s greatest pleasures, and for pleasurable food sharing there’s nothing better than Spanish tapas and pintxos, served in a down-home setting, with a well-stocked bar to peruse. The Andalusian vibe is alive and well in Leeds with Bilbao Bar tucked into Arch U at the newly redeveloped Granary Wharf in the Holbeck Urban Village development, on the south side of the central train station. Inside, besides a great selection of wine, beer, and spirits, Bilbao has three menus awaiting you, depending on how much of a hurry you are – or aren’t – in.

Let’s begin with Bilbao Bar’s takeaway menu, for those who can’t bear to sit a while in this fantastic venue in Arch U of Leeds’ intriguing Granary Wharf complex, one of the highlights in Holbeck Urban Village. First it’s important to remember that all Spanish tapas are half price all day Monday, there’s a cocktail happy hour Monday through Friday between 5 and 7pm, and deals on pintxos come Saturday. See, we are trying to convince you to stay a while. Anyway, Bilbao Bar’s takeaway options are numerous, with aperitivos, selections from the charcutería, tapas, delicious mains from the kitchen, desserts and sides for home or park indulgence. The express menu targets the busy lunch crowd, with a simple pick two tapas plus a soft drink, beer or wine procedure for harried souls in need of some Spanish culinary sunshine.
Digging a little deeper into Bilbao Bar’s offering, perhaps with Spanish gin and tonic, a glass of Bilbao Punch, Spanish sherry or beer in hand, you’ll find an incredibly extensive tapas and pintxos selection that rivals the best in Leeds. Order up some Iberian paté and a selection of breads and infused olive oils to start, perhaps with some authentic Jamón Ibérico.
