Food choice and preparation was excellent as was the customer service. A nice fusion of Lancashire and Croatian menu items perfect for a mid week dinner!

Excellent and enjoyable evening.. All meals were freshly prepared and hot. The staff were very attentive and I would have no hesitation in recommending Black Olive Grill to friends and family.

Wonderful place and probably the best steak and chips I’ve had in a long time. Service was attentive, friendly- noting was too much trouble. Really hope they make a huge success of this wonderful little bistro. I will be back!

We were a party of 7 on a quiet Friday night. Surprised to see only one vegetarian main option on the uninspiring menu. Unfortunately the crispy egg was over cooked twice; the chicken burnt round the edges and the steak very tough, despite asking for medium rare. Altogether the service was excellent and friendly however if this place is to survive they need to up their game on the food.

Overall, the menu was appealing and everything we ordered was well-prepared and tasted lovely. The Croatian things on the menu (including wine) were particularly good. The staff was generally attentive and helpful. That said, even with a discount voucher, it seemed quite expensive for what we got and I would think twice about going back on this basis. A real shame.

Quiet meal for four friends two were new to the restaurant everything was good as we expected.

The food was superb. After an excellent truffle pasta, we wondered whether the following courses could be as good, but they were: lovely lamb, cooked just right, and a fine treacle tart.

The grilled asparagus starter was absolutely delicious as was the tuna carpaccio. My vegetable risotto was really tasty and creamy. The Barnsley chop and roast lamb dishes were excellent. Staff were lovely and attentive and service was excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Good value for money.

Amazing as ever. Love this place, it never lets you down!

The lamb rump was as good as it always is, but my wife, who is vegetarian thinks Brassica could show a lot more care and imagination with its non meat dishes. The Manchester Scotch Egg is nice, but the pumpkin cannelloni was a bit so so. There all sorts of amazing things you can do with vegetables and grains and pulses, but Brassica’s chef hasn’t really given it the thought it deserves considering the nature of the clientele.

Still provides good food but some things need attention. Minute portion of lentils with the cod. No cavalo Nero with the belly pork although this was on the menu.

The place was very clean and stylish the food was fresh and well presented,I would certainly go there again.

As usual very good food from a short but varied menu, the apple crumble soufflé was a star.

Staff very attentive, there was a very rowdy party in and the staff allowed us to move to a quieter area, the food was lovely, starters of beef croquettes very nice, and scotch egg delicious, we went for the Sunday roast beef for the mains, the beef was pink and soft, lovely vegetables and huge Yorkshire's, best Sunday roast I've had in a long time , delicious, will be back.

Have eaten here on several occasions all have been excellent with the exception of today. I believe the restaurant changed hands at the end of February and this definitely shows and I hope this is not a sign of a long term drop in standards as this restaurant was one of the best in area area.

Food was very salty. Not at all the usual standard. Young people serving were excellent.

Most of the food was lovely but the service lacked any element of a personal touch and was indifferent at best- this was a real shame as we’d read many reviews about the excellent service.

Best place for proper food in Heaton Moor! Rather slow service on a busy Saturday night. A small point was that we were not told about items that were off the menu till we tried to order them - so many places mess this up, but there is really no excuse. But overall, very good.
