Black Olive - Yarm

We went on the opening weekend,, We were impressed good staff and lovely food!

Unfortunately the chicken Parmesan was burnt and tasted of the oil that it had been fried in. Which made me ill when I got home. The gin was nice however.

The service was great, the staff were really friendly. A little disappointed with the afternoon tea - there was only one vegetarian sandwich choice and the brownie was extremely dry. But the presentation was very nice.

Ambiance good, no loud drinking groups, which for Yarm is a positive. Food mediocre. Menu disappointing, Yarm needed something new, but it seems to be copying all the rest.

Overall disappointed, staff were very off hand with service ordered bread and olives for starter and told there was no olives available, side plates had to be asked for for starters.Generally felt staff were uninterested seated at a very small table for the 4 of us whereas a couple were seated in a large booth. Don’t think we will return

Staff very friendly .lovely stylish decor &'comfortable seats & great food would reccomend a visit somthing on the menue to suite fo al . Will deffinatly visit again

Food was okay and staff were pleasant but service was on the slow side considering it was 6.15pm and restaurant was not full at tvat time

Food was spectacular, service was exemplary got the mixed shellfish starter and the scallops and the half lobster was cooked to perfection!! Fantastic place to eat and drink

Great food great atmosphere. The staff were happy to make any of their cocktails into non alcoholic versions for my pregnant fiancee. We both found the staff friendly and accomodating. Will100% return soon.

Restaurant was quite cold and there was no atmosphere as very few diners. Staff were very helpful and polite. Food was ok but took a while to arrive.

Really lovely food and setting! We will be back. Lots of choice in Yarm but we recommend giving Black Olive a try. Try try try

Fantastic evening! Food was very good, on eof the best starters I’ve had in years, portions were huge which was a shame as I didn’t enjoy my main as much due to a large starter. But over all, great night and food. And the Aussie merlot was gorgeous

Not enough staff, so service very slow - we waited nearly an hour, would have been nice to have received complimentary drink while waiting and an explanation, but food very good when it finally arrived. Decor lovely.

Really nice surroundings. Good choice on the menu. Food and service very good. Went at lunchtime and it was quiet which was a bonus - expect it gets much busier in the evening

Friendly staff, good service, lovely cocktails, and food. It is a little on the expensive side but will definitely go back. The staff advised us well on the cocktails and food to help us choose.

The service was slow despite the restaurant not being busy. The chicken parmesan was crunchy on top as if it had been reheated. The chips looked nice but were very dry. The calzone pizza came deep fried and when I cut into it grease and fat oozed out onto the plate. Complained to the staff who were apologetic and waived the bill.

A very disappointing New Years Eve. Having booked a table for a meal we were disappointed to be told that at 7.45 some foods were not available

Fantastic! Arrived early but we got seated straight away. Service was excellent, as were the drinks. Had the beef cheeks, really really good. Will be back again. Only negative was the service charge was already added to the bill which I found a bit cheeky, if the service hadn’t have been as good as it was then no tip would be left - this option is removed from the diner! I don’t like that!!!

Great food and cocktails. Had. A really fun night with good company and good service. Starter of scallops which was great. Burger and Parma for main also lovely. Porn starvmartini excellent!

lovely food and very helpful staff. the restaurant is very child friendly. was worried that after Lucia's it might be less of a child friendly place to eat

The food was amazing but the music was too loud for comfortable conversation and some of the food was a bit expensive just for a regular dinner out.

The food cocktails and staff were amazing, great choice of cocktails and spirits. Will definitely be back soon and will recommend to all my friends and family.

Was easy to book restaurant was modern and clean although empty !! Toilets not very clean bins were all full !! Staff lovely very helpful but NO coffee !!

Food was ok not that special all very much standard pub food, and the atmosphere was not good for a restaurant that has recently opened

The food was very good, the atmosphere was also good in a very nice room. The service could have been better, because there were over 50 in the room with Christmas parties and only two waitresses.

Warm welcome, friendly professional service, good menu, great food and really enjoyable.

Nice venue with some finishing off required and lighting was rather bright. We had a long wait for main course and there were not enough vegetables on two of the main courses. Disappointed that on the first night of trading there was only a choice of 3 desserts and one of them was ice cream.

Food was great cocktails were great service wasn't great waited 50 mins for our drinks then as we were in a booth opposite the bar people just kept sitting in our booth whilst we were eating would definitely try it again as it was opening week and the food again was amazing . The staff were doing a great job and did knock the cocktails from the bill for the waiting time can't fault their service it was more the bar service that was the problem instead of making diners drinks they were just serving the people who had just walked in from the street

Cocktails were refreshingly excellent. Extremely busy but the staff were absolutely great. Very accommodating, polite and friendly. Best of luck. Will be back very soon

As good as always. Greeted upon entry, quickly seated and offered drinks. As soon as the menus were shut our order was taken and food was out within 15 minutes. Very quick and great service. Food was delicious.. Much better than Uno Ristoranti or whatever its called across the road

The restaurant is nice and has a good atmosphere, Nice food, fairly priced and excellent service by our waitress. Will be going back due to all of the above reason

The restaurant was perfect - I'd been before, but I was on a first date, and he hadn't! Lovely interior, good food, lovely attentive service, really enjoyed it - and the date went well too! :)

Great atmosphere and great food. The service was good and courses brought at good intervals. If anything, I felt the cocktail to be 80% I’ve 20% actual drink which for the price was a little disappointing

Food was fine - service was poor! Inattentive verging on rude we had to ask for two items twice. Rather than clear a small spill from the table the waiter placed a napkin over it. Served a brandy and ginger but didn't actually hand over the whole bottle of ginger. The restaurant was quiet and if this standard of service is the norm it is not surprising. It didn't feel comfortable but this is the first time we haven't left a tip as,frankly, it really wasn't merited.

Service was excellent and the restaurant was really well presented and a nice atmosphere. I got the bruschetta and pollo lucia chicken, both we ok but lacked great flavour.

I have been here numerous times and have always come away satisfied, but our visit on the 16th was not a good one, 5 of our party order pizza, these should have all been sent back as they were so hard and over cooked. My sister who is a chef sent hers back and cancelled her order, the others didn't want the fuss but left most of them uneaten. Don't think we will return any time soon

Staff missed the opportunity to explain there would be a long delay to the service and order as they were dealing with a large group (approx 30 people) at the time. We had unacceptable delays as the staff and kitchen struggled to cope. After lengthy delays we were offered a round of complimentary drinks and eventually we weren't charged for our starters due to the ongoing delays (4 in our group). Had we been told up front we could have had the option to go elsewhere. This was a Birthday celebration which ended up being quite disappointing. As for the food the Mussels starter was fantastic, but main courses were a let down, nothing special. Having spent the week eating out in pubs and resteraunts in Cornwall, coming home to Yarm, the food was disappointing, poorer quality and less food for a higher price!

Lovely settings gorgeous food friendly staff great cocktails will defiantly be goin back happy hour great value for money had the lasagna for main an d mushrooms to start 😋👌
