It was a quiet Monday evening so it wasn't too busy but the food and service was excellent. The gyoza was the best I've had in many years as the chef cooked it properly, not baked or just fried, but steamed too. A lovely restaurant with great food.

Yum. Good range of dishes and speedy service. A little wait to pay at the end but it was during the busy “fringe” so understandable! Would come back for more.

Food was really tasty and reasonably priced. All tasted fresh and was prepared really quickly. We had left overs which they offered to box for us. Which i thought was really great (if we hadn't been going to a show id have done that) will most certainly be visiting again when we are back in the City. Will also recommend to all. Great work guys.

A continuously brilliant place to get authentic, tasty, cheap food! Closest to actual Japanese as I've ever found in Edinburgh. Staff proper know what they're doing and talking about and the quality is really too notch.

We have a family tradition of eating Japanese food Teppanyaki if we can get it) on the 4th of July and chose Bonsai whilst visiting edinburgh. We were not disappointed - in deed were really pleased to eat high quality delicious Japanese food in a place with great ambience and excellent service.

Venue does not exist. It had closed. We were not made aware of this when we booked. Your website failed in its most basic function- this is a restaurant that does not exist.

Excellent food, good value and reasonably priced. Very attentive service. Slightly dated decor but this doesn't detract from the overall experience. It gets my recommendation and we will be returning.

We had a great time. We went with our kids aged 5 and 7 and they also had a great time. We've been to this restaurant many times. It is a bit expensive but that is the only thing I can say against it.

The food was lovely. However the menu clearly states items that are gluten free with a ‘gf’ symbol. When the food arrived I was told I should have requested a gluten free version as the sauce wasn’t gluten free. This should be clear on the menu, if you need to request gluten free then say that on the menu. It runs the risk of people getting ill the way it is now.

The restaurant is colourfully decorated with Japanese art and we were seated promptly at a cosy table. We offered several rolls of sushi, pork gyoza, crispy noriten seaweed, umiboshi and sake. Everything was delicious, particularly the seaweed and the rainbow roll. We really enjoyed the sake too. We finished our meal with a refreshing glass of iced plum wine. Service was fast and friendly and the bill for two reasonable. Have always loved this place and this was my partner's first experience of it. We'll be back soon!
